Hi Ladies!

Hoping y'all can help me.

My last AF started January 5th which puts me on CD22 (today being the 26th) and I've been taken Gonal-F. I was getting close to needing to take the trigger but the cycle has had to be abandoned. I had a scan CD20 and had two follies at 13 and one at 10 and my blood showed estrogen was over 3000. I had another scan CD21 and had two follies at 17, two at 15, one at 10 and loads of intermediates. Quads is not something I want. The RE has abandoned this cycle and I' to change from 75units to 50units on the next cycle. Sucks that we need to abstain from sex until AF arrives or use condoms.

Anyway, in order to judge when AF is due, I have to use OPK's. Here lies the problem. In the 4.5 years I have been TTC, every cycle where there has been a possibility of ovulation, I have had monitored so knew from that when it would take place. Without medical intervention I have amenorrhea and anovulation and since coming of BC in July 2008, I have not had a period or ovulated on my own, rendering OPK's useless. So, I have never bought them before never mind used them.

Can you Ladies advise me on the best ways to use them, how to know they are positive, how long before ovulation take place after a positive etc? I presume the box (buying later in the day, it's 3am at the moment) will tell me how to read it?

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Lots of luck to you all! And thanks. X

Which ones are you planning on getting? I prefer the digital ones, they're more expensive but don't leave room for interpretation.
As for timing, most people say not to do it first thing in the morning however the instructions on clearblue digital OPKs say that morning is the best time but that anytime is fine as long as you don't pee for 4 hours beforehand.
Personally this month I'll be doing them twice a day (First thing in the morning and when I get home from work).

I have always used them first thing in the morning and they have worked for me, but once the line starts to get darker i use them twice a day til i know the surge has been and gone. My surge is quite short - so you may get more nearly positive lines than i get - I'll post some pics of mine so you can see what they will roughly look like:

top 2 are negative
the 3rd one is very very nearly positive (10am fmu)
the 4th one just 3 hours later was positive (1pm)
the 5th one was 11 hours after the first positive (midnight)
the 6th one negative (8am the next morning)
the 7th one completely negative

Hope that helps x

For me I have the best luck testing in the afternoon and sometimes mine don't show a clear progression like the post above... But i just do once a day so maybe that's why. So sometimes one will look really negative and the next is a blazing positive. Don't get discouraged if they keep looking really negative - the next one you do could come out dark.
