:hi: Ladies

I wondered if those of you using OPKs could give me your opinion?

I have a 30 day cycle at the moment - only just off BCP so it may change but I have come off it before when TTC #1 and I had regular AF then.
when on or off BCP I have very short, very light AFs - 2/3 days max and light flow.
Do you think the length of AF has an effect on when you O? i.e has anyone using OPKs noticed they O later than 'average' or earlier?

I'm wanting to make sure I BD enough this month obv and I'm just using FF to estimate when I'm due to O.

Any thoughts appreciated. :hugs:

It's my first month of using them so i'm still not sure when i ovulate as i'm havin some problems with them eg sometimes getting a line and then not. I think those who have used the cb digi ones have a much clearer idea of when then ovulate. If i did ovulate last week then that is earlier in the cycle than i would have thought. I don't think the length of af would make any difference to ovulation.

I haven't seen anything to suggest women with short/light AFs ovulate earlier/later - just wondered if there may be a correlation.
The main thing I have learned about my light, short and pain free AF is that I'm flippin lucky! :)

Hum..I am not sure on that one. But I think that after your first month of using the OPKs you should be able start understanding your cycle better.

This was my first month using OPKs. There are pros and cons, from what I can see.

Pro: The OPK showed a positive result days before FF and other sites predicted I would ovulate. Without the OPK, I might've missed ovulation altogether.

Con: We were taken by surprise that I ovulated so early...and we immediately put SO SO much pressure on ourselves to BD, that it actually didn't work out for 1.5 days (ugh...so embarassing, but I know this happens to everyone at some point).

Anyway, I think I will continue using them (hopefully I won't have to, though!!) because now we understand how it works and understand that we shouldn't BD the MINUTE we see a positive result, but can definitely wait a few hours if that's what it takes. I think we'll be more relaxed next time we use them.

Thanks for that Capital Chick! :)

What day did you O on then according to the OPKs? And how long is your cycle? I'm just using the free ovulation calenders and FF to give me an idea when we should be BDing.

this is my first month of charting bbt and using opk's, just gonna see if it gives me more of an insight with these darn irregular cycles, if the op's don't work im gonna buy a fertility monitor

I'm gonna keep going with the opk's i got 20 of them and see if any point i get a positive result if not then will prob try charting like you loopylew

I'm not sure darlin. We haven't been using OPK's very long, and to be honest I doubt the reliability of them (we just used the cheapies) as I never really got a positive result from then, well the closest I got was about a week before AF, which threw us off a lot.

Best of luck with it though, I think it's just my whacko body causing us trouble

i have 26 days cycle i never used a opk yet but my obgyn told me since it's short cycle i should ovulate around CD12 and CD 13 so shorter your cycle is early your ovulate and longer your cycle later you O.
what kind of OPK do you use?

Hi there!
To answer your question...
I have a 30 day cycle and I ovulated on CD 14 or CD 15. Tomorrow will be 9 dpo.....and I'm dying to test. Other than sore boobs, I've had almost no symptoms this month. The truth is, because I'm travelling and jet lagged, it's hard for me to tell if whatever I feel is a symptom or just my body adjusting to all the walking I'm doing and the time difference. I've also had some mild twinges in the middle of my uterus, down below my belly button. Yesterday I had some very very brief, very very mild AF-type cramping.
I really don't know what to think. I'm preparing myself not to get a BFP...but I think I'll be shattered again if I don't have one anyway...We'll see!

I'm not using OPKS - I was wondering what people who do thought to my thoughts about the length/flow of your AF and when you O - ie does short and light possibly come with later/earlier than average ovulation?
I thought that ladies using OPK for a few cycles might be able to say how their AF relates to their O day - dunno if that makes sense?!

Thanks CC - I've got my fingers crossed for that :bfp:
