OPKs - do they gradually get darker?

Hi ladies

We are TTC #2 and I’ve been tracking ovulation with OPKs like I did with #1. According to my Ovia app, today I am at the peak of fertility, however I still haven’t had a positive OPK, or one even close to positive.

Does the test line get darker gradually or suddenly get darker around ovulation/spike in LH?

I’m worried that I’m not ovulating. For #1 I didn’t ovulate on my own, so had to have letrozole. However since having her, my cycles have been more “normal” so was hoping it wouldn’t be an issue again. But now I’m not so sure :/

Some womens LH surge builds up over the course of a few days . Some on the other hand get a very quick surge.

Test morning and afternoon too so you have a better chance of catching the surge . Good luck

Hi, I’ve attached my cycle from last month. I’d say mine gradually got darker but every bodies body works differently. I’ve never needed to use a digital one and I know they are expensive but maybe worth a go if you can afford it, maybe alongside traditional cheapies? Good luck.

Thanks both for your replies. It’s been a while since I’ve taken these! Looking at your photo is really helpful BB. I’ve attached my photo from the last 3 days... all taken in the arvo. They don’t look any different to me :/

I’d recommend testing twice a day as you can miss the surge if you are only testing once every 24 hours. You look close, but none of these are positives. Occasionally you just don’t ovulate for whatever reason, I don’t know why that happens. I think if you can’t get a positive again next month maybe book in to see your gp, just because of the extra help you needed last time. Good luck!!
