I have noticed that when I am breast feeding Jaedan now a days that he will be feeding without any problems and then after a bit he will start grunting, clawing, pulling away from the breast and then he'll burst into tears
. When I offer the breast again, he takes it without a problem and then the same thing happens again and again until he is able to settle and fall asleep.
This happens mostly during the evenings and I asked my nurse about it and I felt that what she said made no sense at all. She was saying that its because he's had enough and then he decides he wants more.. I don't think this is the case because when he lets go of my nipple when he's crying and he feels my nipple when I'm offering it again (within the space of a few seconds) he grabs onto my breast and starts feeding as if he's starving, until the cycle starts again with the crying.
I feel horrible because it seems as if he's in so much pain/discomfort and I'm not sure what to do.
It gets a little frustrating sometimes because he'll pull away and get milk all over me and himself, and if I'm trying to feed in public, its hard to stay covered up..
Sometimes, when I put my nipple in his mouth, its like he doesn't even know its there and he's fighting with me for it and crying even though its in his mouth. I have read about thrush and I'm not sure if this may be the case or not because I don't have any symptoms.. my breasts/nipples are fine. And his tongue is a bit white (which I figured was just the milk) but there is nothing on the inside of his cheeks.
Like I said earlier, this doesn't happen all the time, just with some feedings each day. I have started using a bit of gripe water to calm him down which seems to do the trick sometimes, which is why I think it may also be a gas issue. I've written quite a bit, but I just want to get this figured out so I know which step to take next. Thanks ladies!!![Hugs :hugs: :hugs:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/hug1.gif)
