Does anyone or your SO take any OTC supplements to help achieve pregnancy? If so, what do you take? Trying anything before going to a specialist. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello, I'm taking selenium and looking into folate, since folic acid supplements are synthetic and difficult to absorb anyway. I also take Si Ni San to help regulate my period after a loss, but I've also heard people take it to generally boost fertility. (I have no idea if it's even legit, but it's not supposed to be harmful. So I do it for peace of mind. I got it from my acupuncturist who primarily treats women with infertility).

There are a million lists online (I haven't investigated thoroughly, because I'm a little worn out by searching and spending right now). Some supplement companies volunteer to allow their products to be tested by independent assessment agencies. I would seek them out, since supplements are unregulated and can be an absolute scam. And synthetics are difficult to process, right? Even though they're structured identically? It's a consuming research topic. Just make sure you don't overdo certain ones if they're duplicated in your prenatal. Good luck!

Hey, it depends a lot on what kind of difficulties you’re facing to achieve a pregnancy. Is it about ovulation, poor egg quality or irregular cycles? In general, every women of childbearing age should take folic acid at least 400 mg, as a universal rule so you can safely add this one in your regimen. There is little evidence that it helps in conception, but its benefits in preventing birth defect are widely recognised. I took Ovacare from vitabiotics in my early days of TTC. You can think on same. It’s specially designed micronutrient formulation to support the requirement of women, who are trying to conceive.

I took folic acid whilst TTC, my partner doesn't take supplements but made sure he got plenty of bananas and nuts in his diet. We eat healthily, fresh food and get our 5 fruit and veg a day (and then some), go to the gym a lot too. We both take Vitamin D in the winter because we live in Scotland so don't get enough naturally (but that's for general health not TTC).

With BFP switched to prenatal vitamin (though kept taking the folic also, a bit of extra can't hurt)

There's not enough scientific evidence that taking supplements is particularly beneficial (apart from folic and vitamin D) IMO, so I don't bother, just keep myself in generally good health

pycnogenol and ubiquinol are good for egg health also folate for preventing birth defects.
