hey girls hope you dont mind me popping over a few days early with some needed advice....i posted this in 2nd tri but think im nearer 3rd tri for getting this answered...if anyone can help id really appreciate it...xx

Okies, firstly im gonna apologise to you girlies and my little Bubs coz the second i fell pregnant i said id never complain about a single symptom and whenever i dont feel movement i panic and get upset....BUT can someone please give me some advice on how to get the baby to move position??? Ive tried pacing the floor, laying different ways, coffee, rubbing my tummy, prodding it slightly nothing has worked...the way he's lying he's kicking right above my right hip bone and i dunno what nerves there are there but he's knocking them and it really hurts I had like 3 hours sleep last night coz i was so uncomfortable coz when i lay on my right side it was making him kick more so ive spent the whole night on my left side so my left hip is agony....i thought moving about all day at work would cause him to shift but he's clearly very comfortable.....just wish i was :( x

My MW always suggested sitting in a slightly reclined position, drink a pint of ice cold water and eat something sugary like a cake or a mars bar... the combination of cold and sugar makes them have a bit of a wriggle...

This works when my LO is up under my ribs! I'm 36+ but with a breech baby so carrying very high coz it can't fit in my pelvis and I get similar problems with discomfort and not being able to sleep coz i'm dug in the ribs.

Something to try anyway!

xx

My MIL is a retired midwife, and she showed me how you can move the baby around. If you can feel your belly and find the head or bum, you can encourage it to turn by sort of pushing it in the direction you want it to go. It might help, it might not. At your stage the baby can still move easily, so it can be back in the same position 5 minutes later, but anything's worth a try, right?

I also find that when I lie on one side, gravitry takes over and it lowers towards the mattress, so perhaps you could try lying on the side you want it to move to

i find getting on all fours for afew mins shifts her when its painful :hugs: xxxx

Brookie! :) I've been really uncomfortable too lately. It's position combined with the intensity of those "little" kicks. I roll over on my one side and he eventually heads over in that more comfy direction, but when I can't lay down, I'm pretty much hurting all the time- left hip keeps going numb, and/or I'm getting kicked in the cervix. Yay! :winkwink:

Feel better! :hugs:

I agree with the statements already made or at least I found that they worked for me depending on what I wanted my lo to do...

Slightly reclined + ice water = a bit of a wriggle but not usually enough to get her to shift if she was sitting/kicking something

Getting on all fours typically flips babies back to your tummy

Lying on one side or another usually has gravity taking over & bubs shifts to that side

Pushing didn't really work for me, but I figure that's probably more of a personality issue of my little one as she would just push back. Kind of figured it was her way of telling me...hey, don't shove me!

Hope you feel better soon.
