Hi,
I hope I don't end up rambling and this doesn't end up too long to read. I'm a bit blurry on the details and exact times but I'll try and remember it clearly.

I woke up at 11:30pm on the 19th April because I was feeling something like period pain cramps, I realised about an hour later that there was a pattern to them so I started timing them and they were about 10 minutes apart, they eventually went to 6 minutes apart, then 5 then for some reason, up until I went into hospital, they would come anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes apart. I ended up being in this early stage of labour for about 25 hours. I was so upset and exhausted I ended up calling the hopsital and they told me to come in, this was about 2am Monday 21st.

I got there and they hooked me up to a monitor to check bub's heartbeat and contractions. They noticed he had ectopic heartbeats but said it could just be the machinery and that they would check his heart after he was born to make sure. They checked how dilated I was and I was at 2 cm, they offered to induce me because I had been in the early stage of labour for quite a while and only reached 2 cm and also because of his heartbeat. I decided to get induced. By the time they moved me upstairs into a labour room I'd actually gotten to 3 cm and they broke my waters, my contractions got a lot worse and then they turned on the drip and I decided to get an epidural (didn't plan on having one at all but very glad I did). After I got the epidural I was happy and relaxed. The midwife called me too polite because I kept apologising for everything, I had them all laughing at one stage because I kept telling my partner to sit down and relax (while I was pushing).

They checked me at 9:30am and I was 8cm and then again at about 11:45am and I was 10cm, bub's head was still quite high and they realised he was sunny side up (they said that might have explained the longer fist stage with not a lot of progress). They wanted to wait until he moved down further to start pushing. When I started pushing, I pushed for about 2 hours with a little bit of progress but not what they expected despite how well I was pushing apparently. They started talking about the vacuum and decided they would use that to assist. So we went ahead with that. This is where it went a little pear shaped, his head came out but his shoulders got stuck. My mum was watching and she all of a sudden just walked away and behind a curtain and I wasn't sure why. She told me afterwards that she saw his head come out and start turning blue and thought he wasn't going to make it :(. I wasn't too sure what was happening at the time but there were about 5 people all around me trying to get his shoulders out. They ended up getting him out after using certain types of movements with my legs and applying pressure to my abdomen. He only needed a little bit of oxygen. They were all taking guesses with how much he weighed, they were saying about 9/10 pounds which I didn't believe. After he had some oxygen they brought him over to me, and there he stayed for quite a while until they cleaned him up and gave him to my partner to hold. I was joking around with one of the midwives that it was unfair I had to share him.

He arrived at 3:03pm on April 21st and ended up weighing 10 lb 12, he was 60cm long and head circumference was 36cm. It took us a couple of days to name him, but we ended up going with our original choice which is Archer. I couldn't believe how big he was, everyone kept telling me how small and compact I was through out my pregnancy. Explains why I was so uncomfortable. I was literally almost all baby, after his birth I was down 10kg. He's breastfeeding well. I'm yet to conquer sitting up and feeding, I'm just lying him next to me on the bed for feeds. He's absolutely gorgeous :cloud9:
Here he is:
