Hi Mommies,

I decided to start this thread to celebrate our babies's half a year milestone where we can brag about our proud mommy moments, and baby's development and milestones. All mommies are welcome to join! You can also post details about their babies such as their initial weight, how many weeks gestation when they were delivered, their complications and when they overcame it, their clothing size now, current weight...etc. We can even post their before and after pics! I'll go first!

My lo's name is Zachary. He was born 32 weeks gestation weighing 3 lbs 11 oz. He had no breathing problems and was just a grower feeder. He was discharged 5 weeks later on 12/10/2012 weighing 6 lbs 10 oz. Since then he has packed on 9 lbs, currently weighing in at 15.2 lbs! He is 6 months 3 days old today. A few days ago, he learned how to roll from his back onto his tummy and lifting his head up. He is such a grabber, and likes to grab stuff within his reach! Such a happy guy who loves to smile and barely cries. He currently wears 3-6 month clothing, but the pants are becoming a little snug on him. I'm going to post a pic of shortly after he was born, and his most recent pics from about a week ago. The naked one is right after he was born, the swing picture is 2 days after he came home, the 2 pics where he's wearing a green jacket and the one where he's wearing a baseball cap is taken a few weeks ago.

My daughter is 8 months and we will be 6 months corrected next week.

Aimee was born at 29+5 weighing 2lbs 2oz. She was in the NICU for 26 days, on CPAP for approximately 22 days (I can't remember if it was 22 or 23). Once she was off CPAP and only needed to grow and learn to feed by bottle, they transferred her to my local hospital where she stayed for 36 days. She came home at 5lbs 4oz. She's been a slow grower, but I'm just glad she's growing. At her last weigh in at 7 months, she was 12lbs 1.5oz. I suspect she's around 13lbs now but she doesn't get weighed until the 28th. She has an ASD in her heart which they think won't be a problem and it will close on it's own. She sees cardiology every 6 months to check on it. She currently wears 3-6 month clothes but still fits into some 0-3 month stuff that is smaller.

Here are a few pictures. One from when she was a few days old, the one of her on the change table is the day she came home, the pink Guess outfit is from last week and the white dress is her 8 month picture.

Hello... I had to add my Reese to this thread!

Reese was born in October. She was alittle over 23 weeks gestation. Reese was 1lb 6oz and just under 12 inches at birth. Her tiny hand was the size of my thumb nail and her head wasn't much bigger than a golf ball!

Reese was ventilated for almost 6 weeks, then had c-pap, high flow, and finally low flow oxygen. We have an sppointment at the end of the month to see if she is ready to give up the nasal canula all together! :happydance:

She spent 4 months in the NICU and came home to us 2 months ago (42 weeks gestation). She was very lucky to have not needed any surgeries even though she was so very early.

She is now 6 months old (2 months adjusted), is a chubby little monkey at 12lbs, and spends her day smiling at anyone who will talk to her.

Welcome ladies!

Aimee and Reese are absolutely adorable! You must be excited that they are doing so well now! Sounds like Reese is growing very good and Aimee looks like such a happy baby. I have a soft spot for early preemies. They look so small and fragile but have so much courage and will power to make it through so far.

Thanks for starting this thread! Your little ones are all looking great- Zachary so handsome and Aimee and Reese beautiful too! I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing more stories/pics to keep me hopeful about the progress of our little guy, and I'll be back in 5 1/2 months to give you our update :flower:

Hey ladies
There is currently a sticky for then and now https://babyandbump.momtastic.com/premature-nicu-babies/1087691-then-now-our-preemies.html
We're hoping this thread will bring hope and support to new preemie mums/moms

AP x

Myra, I hope everything goes well for your little guy! You will be amazed at how much he grows. My husband said although its sad that our son was born early, it was also a very special time for us because we got to see him develop every single way as if he was still in the womb.
