Originally booked in January 24th for an elective C Section, I have been nil by mouth since 8pm on the 23rd when we arrived at the hospital.

We were told we would be down by 11am but they kept putting it back until the midwife came and said I would have to go home and would be booked in on the 31st January.

As I was so hungry I did the most natural thing and went for my husbands packet of chrisps, the midwife then bollocked me for eating and said I would be going down at 5pm and shouldn't have eaten. By this point I had the shakes, I am crap with lack of food I don't function properly if I don't eat little and often.

I burst into tears to which she replied that I wouldn't be going in as they were bringing up a twin mum. She said I could have a cup of tea but came back 2 minutes later and said I would have to vacate the bed, I had shit loads of bags and she had sent my husband to pick up a new prescription of ranatidine before the pharmacy shut at 5.30pm. She didnt offer to help carry my bags along the road and got arsey that I was taking my time.

They then rebooked me in for the following day as they could not leave me another week because I was at risk of going into labour.

The next day (after only managing a pizza) I had to go nil by mouth again and we arrived at the hospital at 7.30am, I had a better feeling this time, there was a lovely chinese midwife who would be overseeing the operation, things moved pretty fast we got to speak to the anaethitist *sp and signed everything off and we got as far as receiving our scrubs.

Myself and my partner got ready and I started to feel a bit nervous, I have been through it before. We went into the Theatre and we put the same C.D on our 1st son was born too, I then realised I had my underwear still on and had to strip off in front of quite a few people.

The whole process is a strange one, everyone in the room was lined up and they each took it in turn to say who they were and what they were doing, I piped up is this part of the von trappe film or is it real?

Once the music kicked in the began working on me I was fitted with a canular which took 2 attempts, they then put some local in my back and gave me the spinal its a weird feeling when your legs go warm and you cant feel anything.

I then laid down and then they began to work, the whole cutting to baby being removed took around 7 minutes and he was born crying unlike my other son who needed a bit of work.

Whilst they were stitching my whole chest went extremely tight and I could feel every beat of my heart thumping, the anaethitist quickly came and asked me how I was, by now my heart rate was up to 196 and I heard her mention that I was tachicardic and she put some stuff into my canular, by this point hubby needed the toilet and vacated NICE ONE!!! :dohh:

I was then sick all over and my bp became really low I ended closing my eyer and just imagined a cup of tea and some toast to try and stay relaxed.

Once I was stable and stitched up I was back in recovery, I managed to feed my son straight away and he took to the breast no bother before I had a bite to eat, I was that hungry I ended up with 2 sandwiches off the lady.

Anyways after 2 days and lots of crap with pain relief we were discharged.

Jack weighed in almost a pound heavier than his brother at 7 pound 5.5 ounces and is an absolute gorgeous addition to the family and I would do it all again.

Some pictures of my wee gem x
