Out of breath

I've spoken to the midwife and she's recommended I got to see my GP so I'm going at 4pm.

Let you know what they say.....

Hope you get on OK at the GP's today.

I went to the GP a couple of weeks ago with similar symptoms - I sometimes feel my heart pound and get out of breath. They took my blood pressure / pulse and gave me an ECG and all was fine. When they took my pulse it was only going 70 and yet I could still feel it in my thoat (weird huh?).

My doctor said it's normal for pregnant women to have "hyper-dynamic" cardio-vascular systems (no, I have no idea what that means ).

Hope your appointment goes ok too :hugs:

Good luck this afternoon hon. Let us know how you get on. I was getting quite out of breath, but that was a while ago. And as I've posted before, my ankles are really swollen. My GP was great (not) and just said that some people swell during pregnancy. Hope you get a more helpful response!

Just got back from the Dr's....I think I picked the wrong profession.....

I told him how I felt (while gasping for air) and he said that it will be my uterus pushing on my diaphram....I said I thought that usually happened later and he checked my tummy and said it was the right size. His conclusion was still that it was my uterus pushing my diaphram.

He asked me if it happened when I was moving etc and I told him AGAIN that I couldnt even get through a sentence without feeling faint.

He asked when my scan was and said they would be able to check everything is ok then........errrrm WHAT???!!!

I suggested the possibility of it being my iron levels, with me being veggie and he was 'Oh ye it could be.....' HELLLLLLOOOOOO EARTH TO DR!!!!!!

So I've to go back for bloods on friday.

I've moved all sharp items out of reach.......jeeeeezzzzzz

Oh dear me, I'm sorry your doctor wasn't much help. I wonder how some of these doctors qualify. Still, at least he's checking your blood out.

Argh, I'm not even near to being qualified yet and I think I could have done a better job (not trying to say anything about me but I really thing you deserve better than that).

I hope the blood work comes back ok, if its still a problem I really think you should seek a second opinion/further tests.

Grrr, am quite grumpy with the way some doctors just put everything down to prenancy without checking properly :hissy:

What an eejit !!! Next time, just book a room at the surgery, and tell them you'll have an appointment for the doc to come in and see you, and tell him what is wrong. I hope they get to the bottom of it on Friday :dohh:

Sorry your dr. was so non committal. That really irritates me. I wonder what is going on with you. I get short of breath all through my pg, but my dr. said it was just the pg hormones that cause it. I also have slight asthma which could cause it. Do you have a history of asthma? I hope they find you just need to take a pill and you will be fine. Keep us posted of course.

Hi,

I have to say, I was getting breathless quite early on actually, and had exactly what you described when talking to someone at work - more than once. I also had some palpitations, but MW said it was just that your lungs do have to do a lot more work as you have more blood to pump, and also your organs move and your lungs get squashed etc.

I'm sure it's fine but if you're worried, it's best to get checked over.

Hope all is well.

Cath

Thanks girls. :hugs:

He did ask about asthma but I've never had it or had a history of it in my family.

If I'm not happy after fridays bloods and still feel the same, I'll book in with another Dr or ask to see the midwife at her clinic.

x

Wow,did you check for diplomas on his wall?Did they spell Graduate of Butchering school?

''Sounds like you're in good hands'' doesn't apply here obviously.

Wait till your blood results come in then see what will the twit do.You know better than him,if you don't feel comfortable,go to the midwife or another doc...which I see you already decided...

:hugs:

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr call themselves doctors! Good luck Friday
