ok so let me start from the beginning.. I used to be on mirena a few years ago after I had my daughter. it was just awful! I was always in pain and the e.r . thy discovered an ovarian cyst and said it was normal with iud's. I eventually had the iud removed and I assume the cyst went away. I went back on the pill. I went off of the pill to try for another baby a couple years ago and i remember my bf at the time & i had intercourse and I had to stop due to excruciating pain . I tried going to the bathroom and that caused shooting pains to be sent through my abdomen. I layed down and tried my best to cope until I eventually fell asleep. in the morning the pain was still present but not as bad . it was gone pretty much the next day. at the time i didn't know what it was but due to cysts I was used to pain here and there during intercourse just not that bad but it went away so I blew it off. well that said boyfriend and i split up and I am now in another Long term committed relationship. I had been on the pill. I came off of it to ttc last month and we had no luck. I'm thinking its because on nov.5th was my ovulation day according to opk's. so we dtd. well same scenario occurred.. after intercourse I was in debilitating pain and tried going to the bathroom which caused worse pains throughout my rectum and abdomen. i tried laying down but nothing worked. I eventually went to the e.r knowing it was a cyst. they did bloodwork which came back fine. then they did an ultrasound and found alot of free fluid and a 3cm cyst on my right ovary. they said it could have been a second one that had ruptured or it could have been that one and it was bigger before my visit and only partially ruptured.. we'll never know. anyhow, I had a f/u with my gynae. who said it sounds like a functional cyst and will likely disappear on it's own which I am aware of considering I've had these before. my only concern is now it's been almost 3 weeks and I am still have horrible pains during intercourse (mainly with deep penetration) and when i have bowel movements. it's to the point i have to hold on to the sink when going to the bathroom :( I'm now scared to go ( I still go its just terrifying because of the pain) . is this likely from the cyst they said was still on my ovary? has anyone else experienced this? I started my period yesterday as scheduled and have a Pap smear scheduled for dec.2nd (annual) if it is not gone by then I will def. request another sono. I keep reading that ovarian cysts can cause bowel pressure and pain but idk if they mean to the same extent I do. & I feel like the docs don't really listen when I say I'm having rectal pains. I just wanna know if this is normal or not.. and also if I will still release an egg this month since we are ttc! i don't think I did last month because it ruptured:/ I'm typically a very 'fertile Mertile' lol. pregnant 3 times on 1st attempts. any insight would be greatly appreciated! sorry so long....

That is a tough one hun- the sharp pain is for sure a symptom on cysts, most women get them from time to time- and they usually rupture on their own (which can cause pain). I've had them and it's a sharp deep pain- but goes away after it ruptures. It's possible the size or amount of them could be cause you more pain than what's typical- so I would for sure followup with a specialist or another doctor that will actually listen to you-- they need to find a way to help or better explain why this is happening.

Sorry no better advise- Big hugs :hugs:

I wouldn't worry about TTC though- sometimes these things take time. Just focus on feeling better for now- and the rest will come.

When I was on the pill before my ivf treatments I got 2 cycsts. The fs told me it's very common with women on the pill. I never had one in the 7 years that I had my IUD. They say sometimes you ovulate through the pill but the egg fills with fluid and doesn't pop and come out, leaving you with a massive fluid filled sac. I had to have mine aspirated/drained before my IVF because they can hinder ivf process. If you're in that much pain can you not ask for yours to be drained? They took A LOT of fluid out of mine, I had shooting pains from it but nothing as painful as what you're experiencing. I'd get it dealt with asap!!

thank you :) yeah I went back to the er a couple days ago and the cyst has grown according to ultrasound by .6cm and is filled with blood or protein and is leaking. I followed up with my doc and they said we re gonna do a laparoscopy to remove the cyst if it is still there and to check for endometriosis. it is scheduled for this Tuesday coming up . I will def. update !

Oh thank goodness they're doing something for you! Do let me know how it goes, I'll be in Czech Rep getting knocked up but I'll be checking in on all my threads <3
All the best with the surgery!

I suffer from cysts, but my immediate guess when I read your symptoms was endometriosis.

I hope you get some answers either way! Good luck!

thanks so much ladies :) I really do appreciate the support and advice! I will def. update after the surgery. they said if its not endo or removing the cyst doesn't relieve the pain then I'll have to get a colonoscopy to check for other sources of the pain. so we shall see! hoping all of this is dealt with my January so I can continue working towards our bfp :) however, dh and I both know my health must come first and I cannot wait until I get some answers and some relief! & btw, 2have4kids sounds like fun! lol I wish you the best of luck ! with all that travel & devotion you sure do deserve it!

had my lap done today and they removed the cyst and found minor endo . my right ovary was tucked behind my uterus so overall we fixed quite a few things. can't wait to feel the results because right now it sucks! they pump your abdomen with co2 and it never completely comes out before they stitch you up so therefore it rises to your shoulders and chest. I am not exaggerating when I tell you it is the worst pain of my life! I was crying and shaking in so much pain.its hard to breath and very hard to move. I seriously don't know how people haven't gone into shock with their bodies enduring this much pain! I'm typing this because I have finally found a bearable position. I'm scared to move! lol. pain killers and gas x don't help because it's carbon dioxide trapped in you there's simply nothing to do but let your body absorb it:( I have pain from the incisions as well (there are 3) which would typically hurt like hell (I can't move, walk, sit , lay , cough, laugh, etc) but compared to the gas pains it's a walk in the park . I had a c section before so it's nothing new to me. I remember having the shoulder pains after my c section too but not like this :( but then again they don't inflate u with co2 during a c sec lol. not to mention my throat is killing me from the tube they put down it! can't wait for these next couple of days to be over :( but thanks for your prayers ladies it means alot ! ;) I still am going to a GI to discuss my abnormal bowels and pain issues there as requested by my gyn. he doesn't think endo is causing that since I don't have alot of it. so I am going there on Friday and will probably schedule a colonoscopy! wish me luck ! hopefully January we will be all clear for baby dusting. :)

Oh you poor thing! At least now you're getting some answers. Hopefully you will feel much better after all of this!

I've had the open abdomen surgery (5 openings) with gas and know your pain. Breath slowly and deeply (breath into the sharp pain as it will eventually relieve it). As well you need to walk slowly and move if you don't want this prolonged. The more you move (albeit gently) the faster it goes away - sorry you have to deal with this!

Make sure if you're ttc that you give it your best shot this month, after they scrape the inside your chances are much better for conception. Good luck with the colonoscopy. Again, not a nice thing to have to do but at least you'll be in the know!

thank you so much:) as of today the gas pains have subsided for the most part. now i just feel like I got hit by a truck! lol. neck, chest, and back are sore along with every muscle in my body. it feels like I have a cold too but I'm sure it's just from the surgery. like chest feels tight and I wanna cough but can't because it hurts:/ oh well time will heal ! last night was the worst and I'm improving by the hour:) as far as ttc we def will be trying again next cycle. I'm sure it will be a little while before I can actively dtd though. & I'm not sure when next af will come now? I didn't know you bleed after the lap. it was supposed to come on the 18th originally but now who knows with this surgery and bleeding in between it will probably mess it up. anyone know how that works? did u get ur period on time ?

hope you are better! I found out at a 12 wk appt that I have a1 inch in diameter cyst on the vaginal wall, the reason why I wouldnt dilate during birth and had to have a c section (just found the cyst AFTER THE FACT) An appt wasnt made for removal, guess I should make a follow up an get it removed??

hi there! yes I'm doing much better now.. we actually conceive the very next cycle! I'm 4w5d along! so it must have helped! & if the doc says not to worry about the cyst I wouldn't worry about it. however,1 inch is a pretty large one I think. but they usually go away. I've only had them on my ovaries though.. so I'm not sure. I also had them remove it because it was causing pain with sex and just plain abdominal pain in general. plus I wanted them to check for endometriosis because I suspected it .. which they did diagnose me with. other than that it's nothing to be concerned about really .. I had one before and I just let it take it's course and it went away on its own . yours probably will too .. I would just have them check it again after 2 cycles to make sure it hasn't grown and is reducing in size or has disappeared. I are U have a fairly new baby.. congrats! but I'm thinking that probably played a part in the cyst.. hormones can do some crazy things! good luck to you! let us know how it goes :)

oh .. & I had a c section with my daughter. she's 4 now. it really sucks at first.. I know it's painful. but all that matters is they are here and healthy! :) was yours emergency I guess? mine wasn't emergency . they just told me we had to do c section because she was upside down (breeched) and they sent me to L&D . I think I'm gonna try natural with this one. we shall see!
