I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this, but I figured I would try bc some of you may be very familiar with endometriosis. I apologize if it is not the correct forum...
I have an endometrioma on my left ovary, about 3cm or so I believe, which has been there for almost a year. I conceived in february after only 3 months of TTC. I had a mc in early march. At the time my doc said there was no problem and that it was a functional cyst. Now she is finally calling it an endometrioma and said that it is possible that it would interfere with fertility or with staying pregnant once I did conceive. She referred me to a specialist for further recommendations, possibly for removal of the endometrioma. I don't have many other symptoms of endometriosis except for longer periods (not especially painful) and bloating in my abdomen. We just finished trying our third month after the mc to conceive. Has anyone else had experience with this good or bad? I'm curious to see what others have been through or if you have any words of advice..thanks in advance..

I have an endometrioma on my right ovary. The consultants have all said it won't affect fertility, but that I might have endometriosis else where that could be affecting fertility. We were advised to go straight for IVF as I am 37. However, they are now suggesting I have a laparoscopy to remove it, and any other endo I have.

I think the laparoscopy is relatively minor surgery, done as keyhole surgery. I'm not sure what else I can say. Good luck with ttc :hugs:

i have a cyst of my right ovary which could be an endometrioma. At first the FS thought that it was a corpus luteum as I'd just ovulated, then when I told him I'd had the same one a year ago on the same ovary (also thought to be CL at the time), he said it could be an endometrioma and then added that it could have been the cause of the m/c. I too have no symptoms at all of endometriosis, if anything, it would be the opposite as AF only last 2 days with no pain at all. I am back for a scan beginning of September.

Thanks for your replies. Fbbaby, so your doc said it was okay for you to continue to ttc even though he thought it may have caused the mc? I have to ask my doc this at an appointment on Monday. I can't bear the thought of another mc you know? Who knows, though, it could be random and unrelated too. How large is the cyst that you have?

He didn't seem sure whether it was a CL or endometrioma At first he thought it was a CL and I have read that the two can look alike. Mine was almost as big as the ovary, not sure what that would be in cm.

I have read that endometriosis might increase the risk of a m/c, but it is not directly linked. In my case, it could have been my age (38 at the time), my OH sperm (he has bad morphology), or just random bad luck.

Good luck ttc again.

Fb,
Thanks. There are so many unknowns aren't there? It could be so many different factors. TTC can drive you insane. Good luck with your TTC journey as well :)
