I had a missed miscarriage 7 weeks ago and they discovered a large cyst on my ovary. I had to return a couple of weeks ago for the cyst to be checked and it had grown huge and the hormones in my blood were in the cancerous region. I was admitted for an urgent op as the cyst looked likely to rupture due to its size and position. I ended up having my whole ovary removed also, I have no children yet. Has anyone else had a similar experience or had any problems conceiving with only one ovary. I haven't had my first period or anything yet so hopefully in the next couple of months I will be able to judge the impact of the operation. I am currently waiting on results for the biopsy for the tumour hopefully it is benign! Just wondered if anyone had any advice as I have had a bad couple of months and am feeling a bit down at the minute and finding it hard to stay positive......

Thanks

You can get pregnant with one ovary, if it produces eggs (which i am sure it does). I recently had surgery last week myself to save my ovary AGAIN. This makes the 2nd time. I now have to go to a fertility specialist to see if my tubes are working. After 3 hours of surgery, you'd think that they could have looked to see. Anyway I'll get a HSG to see for sure and then who know. But yes dear, as long as that tube and ovary are healthy, you should have no problems. Take care and good luck.:hugs:

I am sorry about losing your ovary :hugs:
I have read so many successful stories of women conceiving with one ovary.
Wishing u the best of luck

My niece got pregnant with one ovary! It is possible :hugs:

Sorry to hear about you losing your ovary. I'm sure once your body recovers you won't be too long in conceiving. Good luck and get well soon.

xx
