Hi there i just wondered how many people on here are over 43 and pregnant...and if so how long were you ttc...and what eventually did the trick "!!!!!

Hi there,

I am 44 (45 next April) and have been pregnant five times since Sept 09, unfortunately they all ended in miscarriages.

My boyfriend and I started trying very quickly and I was pregnant within 2 months, after the first loss it took us 2 cycles to the next BFP, then I got pregnant 2 weeks after the 2nd mc. We never go longer than 2 cycles, but I think we are just very lucky (but very unlucky when it comes to holding on to them).

I have also had the AMH (ovarian reserve test) and it was 'low', so I hope that it gives you some faith that it can happen, even at my age!

We are trying again and hopefully will get my xmas BFP!

MinnieMone, thank you for mentioning the AMH situation. I am 39 and have a very low AMH (.3), so your post gave me hope. I'm so sorry for your losses. I hope your wish for a Christmas BFP comes true!

I conceived this baby at 42 but am now 43 :) It took me 5 months in total with a chemical pregnancy inbetween. I think sometimes its not so much the conception..more the holding on to it. Still, it can be done. I think what worked for me was relaxing, not getting hung up over it and the main difference was dtd every other day. All the other cycles we dtd daily over my fertile days to no avail [ except the chemical] So there you go! Goodluck. x

Glad it helps Nancat. My AMH was 7 I was so scared to have it done, but my specialist (Dr Shehata in Harley St) said that because I was getting pregnant so often I really shouldn't take much notice of it. He said it is just a guide. It only takes one egg!

I think the problem as we get older is not necessarily the amount of eggs but for me I know it must be the quality, plus I have raised NK cells which means I need to take steroids to try and kill the nasty cells. Unfortunately I have lost 2 since being on them but I'm not going to give up hope till the fat lady sings (or the menopause hits!) whichever is sooner.

Don't give up hope, I never got pregnant throughout my 20's and 30's and I truly believe there is a reason why I'm suddenly getting pregnant so frequently. This will happen (god dammit!!)
