I put on 30lbs exactly this pregnancy. I dropped 10lbs when baby was born and then another 3lbs in the week that followed.

Now my baby is 3 weeks old and i am totally stuck at 143lbs. I am overweight for my height (5'3) and i am sick and tired of feeling fat and bloated. I know it' so soon after having my baby, but i have hardly been eating much at all, i haven't had much appetite with the sleepy and worn out feeling that comes with having a newborn to look after! I've definitely not been overeating, yet everyday the scales say exactly 143.0lbs.

I am eager to get running again and start properly excerising, going to gym classes etc, but i am waiting on my 6 week checkup before i do any of that. Just waiting and waiting and feeling fat and frumpy. Yuck.

Is it usual to retain baby weight for a while post partum? I know it won't just fall away on it's own, but i have been doing SO much walking everyday and i'm not losing any weight at all.

If your scale displays the exact same weight each time, maybe it's not working properly? Have you tried weighing anything else on it? My scale will sometimes do that, and I have to "reset" it by putting some weights on it. After that it'll usually give me a different weight.

Your body could still be recovering, and newborn days are rough. Make sure you stay hydrated! Walking is a great start until you get cleared. You might want to bring up your concern at the check-up, just so your doctor can reassure you. It does take time though! I know I didn't see any real progress until months after DD was born. Good luck :hugs:

Are your scales working right hun? When mine are at a certain place in the house (our flat isn't even) it comes up with 3 different weights, also your body should change between + or - 2lb per day.

Its normal to be feeling like this you just had a baby, along with lack of sleep and not being being able to get your usual stuff done, the 6 weeks will fly by and you will be back on your feet before you know it
Good Luck x

Well my scales said 142.6lbs this morning so finally SOME difference! Heh.

I lost 10lbs initially with my first baby and I didn't shed anymore for two years! I then dropped 13lbs and felt so much better for being able to fit in my clothes again. I look back at the pics from before I lost the baby weight first time and I was overweight and felt miserable. I ate like a beast though!! Right now I have zero appetite and yet it's not budging at all. It's just so frustrating waiting, I'm cautious of slipping back into eating loads and keeping this weight on. I see it everytime I look in the mirror because it's affected my face more than anywhere else. Before, I felt pregnant and blooming with baby, now I feel frumpy and hefty, squeezing my belly into my clothes. Argh

Yay for the scale moving! :happydance:

I know this is going to sorry wonky, but for a day or two eat more than your normally do and take a break from as much exercise as you can. It's a good way to get the scale moving again sometimes (I just did it this past weekend, and went from 127 to 125).

It's definitely rough during the early days, I was the same way. :hugs:
