overweight and preggo

I had an appointment with an infertility specialist who suggested I loose weight to get pregnant. (I was 273) As it turned out, I was pregnant during that visit. I started off the new year eating healthy and upping my water intake. Once I found out I was pregnant it was much easier continuing on the same healthy path. I have found that I am uncomfortable if I eat a normal size meal and try to have healthy snacks throughout the day. (Nuts, fruit, and yogurt thus far) (They say this can help with morning sickness as well) As of yesterday I was down 3 pounds with just diet change. I have had no morning sickness either, although that may still be coming. The water intake is important too. It took a full week of drinking nothing but water before I was hydrated enough to pee frequently.

thank you guys for all your replies now I don't feel as bad I'm hoping I only gained 15 to 20 pounds

I was about 198 pounds when I fell pregnant with my first two and gained 44 pounds with each!
This time round I am being WAY more careful. The midwife showed me some studies that showed it is safe and possible for overweight (obese) mothers to gain little to no weight while pregnant. I started this current pregnancy at 227 pounds and up until 18 weeks had not put on anything. I am 22 weeks now and I have put on 6 pounds around the holidays (blame that on holiday eating and socialising). However, now I'm back home I'm back to counting calories to ensure I getting enough nutrition but not more than I need. I use My Fitness Pal to track and set my calories to maintain my current weight. It seems to be more than enough food to satisfy me and if there's the odd day that I'm starving, then I just eat a bit more.
It will be interesting to see how long I can maintain it!! All the best :flower:
