I’ve got a question: When you use the OPK digital and see more than one day of smiley faces (3 days to be exact) when do you count the time that you will Ovulate. For instance, I got a smiley face on Thursday evening – Saturday morning (it was gone by 6pm) would I have ovulated during that time, or will I ovulate a day or two AFTER the smiley face is gone. Please advise me:

Ps: we BD all of the previous week up until Sunday - but I think I might have missed the O. (experienced cramping Monday & Tuesday)

I'd say you picked up your LH surge at the very beginning and it lasted a while...You normally O at the end of that surge and so I'd assume it would be 12-36h after the saturday morning one!

I've had cycles do that to me too and it turned out the be the last one that was good (I'm charting)...sometimes your body gears up to O and fatigue, stress, illness, ect can delay it.

Other times I have a - opk the morning and a + the evening and a - the next morning= small surge!

Good luck!

Your body may have geared up to ovulate and something delayed it. The + I would go with would be the last one you seen (Saturday morning). The best bet is to BD as soon as you can, after you get your + and keep BDing until a few days after your + OPK, to be sure you don't miss any opportunities. I would assume you are going to ovulate anywhere from 12-36 hours after your last positive OPK, just to be safe. Even if you missed O day, its still ok, because sperm can live inside for 72+ hours. So as long as you BD before and had sperm friendly cm, you should be fine. You should consider temping though if you're using OPK's, because all they do is measure the amount of LH and tell you when it's at its peak. It doesn't at all verify that you did ovulate for sure. And positives are somtimes very easy to miss if you happen to get a short surge and are not testing 2 times a day. They don't work for me unless I test twice a day. I use to think I was not ovulating because I could not get a positive. But when I started temping, I realized I was ovulating, my surge just wasn't long enough to detect all the time. Good luck, I hope this helps!! xx
