Hi Everyone!

Im a newbie here and wondered if any of you could help me....

I have just come off the pill and am ttc. I have done some reading but didnt want to get too hung up just yet - I have a 13 yr old from my first marriage so I know I have been able to get pg in the past but Im not a spring chicken anymore (33) and my hubby has no children.

I have been charting my cycle and hubby and I have had sex on days 10, 12, 13 and 15 - I am assuming a 28 day cycle for now until I have charted a full cycle properly.

Thats my background info!

My question is about ovulation pains - on days 14 and 15 I had what I believe to be ovulation pains. Quite severe - much worse than any period pains - and I am still tender today on day 16.

Is this normal? most info on the web seems to suggest they can last from mins to 2 days yet I am still tender.

TIA everyone! x

When your actively TTC and looking for things that are related you feel things that you never did before hehe

Sounds liek possible ovulation pain and Im sure Ive seen ppl saying it can be quite painful for them although I do believe if it is very painful its best mentioning it to your GP (I think anyway).

Good luck

She's right

Thanks Wobbles and Faith May.:hugs:

I think I might go to the Drs after the New Year - I'm still in some discomfort TBH and its been 3 days - I dont think thats right.

I think the pill etc messes with your body, i thought i'd ovulated later than i now think i did, i still keep getting cramps etc which seem to have been around about a week now and now my nipples are sore, which could be a sign of AF for me when i thought i only ovulated a couple of days ago. Try not to worry too much about signs etc, what have your cycle lengths been like? the first month i'd come off bcp i had bad cramps which we're out the ordinary but i think it was just my body adjusting to chemicals etc

Thanks Loopy - I've not had a full cycle off the pill yet so like you say it may well be adjusting to not having them in my system. I am just assuming 28 days for for this first month.
I hadnt heard of OP's - I was counting the days to get my cycle lenght and just giving things a whirl to start with! When I started getting the cramps I did a search wondering if it might be a side effect of coming off the pill but then came across info on OPs. All the signs seemed right so I assumed thats what they might be.

Sorry to sound silly but what does AF and BD stand for - I've worked out what they are because of the context I keep seeing them in but cant work out what they actually stand for!

AF- Aunt flow, BD-babydance/sex.

You should expect your first cycle to be longer than your others, that seems to be the trend. I came off bcp in Sept 07. My first cycle was 36days followed by 24 and 34 days, still waiting to see what this month brings, just don't worry if your cycles are all over :hugs:

Thanks again Loopy - Just been reading your thread about your cycle.
I've got everything crossed for you (except my legs of course).:hugs:

I feel under loads of pressure already. My sister feel for her little one on the first month off bcp. When I had my daughter I came off bcp in october and got pg in feb but I'm 13 yrs older now.
Anyway, I've found you lot so I know I'm not alone anymore. x

:hi:

this forum is great for support hun, when i came of the BCP in June my cycles were all over the place until the last 2 months when they have been 28days, good luck hun :hugs:

Hiya :hi:

I get quite bad ovulation pains too - it even has a name apparently - Mittelschmerz, which means 'middle pain'. I got it when I came off the pill (obviously because my body was ovulating again, lol), and became paranoid that it was something to worry about.

From the research I've done, it's actually quite common, and can be seen as an advantage because you physically know when you're ovulating.

However, I agree with the above posts - if you're having really bad pains from it, it might be worth mentioning it to your GP.

Here's hoping for a BFP soon for you!! :hugs:

I think any pain that becomes severe should be seen by a GP - It's not uncommon to get some discomfort/pain during ovulation - in fact thats how a lot of women detect their O.

Best of luck!!!

Here's wishing you good luck and to make you feel better, I'm 45 and trying for my 1st. I've always been a late starter. This is only my first official month ttc.

By the way, in relation to the abbreviations, there is a link on the opening page of the website that is headed abbreviations and you will find a list of them all in there. I've had to look at it a few times.

Best of luck and lots of :dust: to you.

i understand how you feel, i came off bcp in sept 2007 and my cycles were 45 days and then 56!! i am now waiting for my next one or not hopefully! but if i do i hope it goes back to the usual 28 days.

fingers crossed!!

Thanks Tishi and Hayley :hugs:

I've felt fine today - no pain or tenderness at all (CD19)

I've attempted to check my cervical position after searching old posts and finding a great link courtesy of 'Mommyandbaby' in a thread called 'Your TTC Methods' (I think!) - I would have included the link but I can as a newbie.
It was very useful - much better than anything else I've found on the web. That said I couldnt tell you what I observed! I think I'll wait until after I've tested in 9 days and if I dont get good news, I'll start examining in my next cycle.

You're a smashing bunch girls

Mervs MUm- we will be testing on the same day if my cycles same as last one :hugs:

i found that as soon as we stopped trying, we became pregnant, just relax and dont worrying, it took my 3 months to get my cycle back to normal after i came off the pill x x x x x

YLeeLou - Thanks for the reply - I'm pretty relaxed at the moment...just impatient like most women....:laugh2:

Loopy - Do you think you will be able to wait ??? My sister has already been trying to encourage me to test early....
