Ovulation tests - how accurate?

Hi I came off BC in December - have had pretty regular AF since - varying from 36 days to the last at 29 days - but at least they are here. However, I've used Ovulation tests the last two months and not once have I had a positive result - I did think that I couldn't have AF without O. Anyone else have this problem and able t get PG or have come to any conclusions? very confused!! Am 27 on Wednesday and would've loved to be pregnant by then.

Hi rj84! Unfortunately it is possible to have AF without ovulating. I am going to start using OPKs myself this month so I can't answer your question about accuracy, but do you get other signs of OV around the middle of your cycle?

I use the Ovulation kits as well, have been using them on and off for about 6 months and i have had not one possitive!! I have heard that they are best used with temping at the same time, i'm yet to do that as i need to get the thermometer, but there cheap enough to get.

Depends on what brand you use. I found that the answer brand never gave me a +++ while clearblue and cvs store brand did. I was bd'ing on the wrong days because I would get a darker line from the answer brand and thought I was ovulating. When I bought the other ones I realized the answer ones were a week off. Try a few different brands, you might have better luck.

I was TTC for 8 months before I started using the OPT, after 2 months of using them I got pregnant. I have a bit of an irregular cycle and it really helped pinpoint when I was ovulating.

Now looking back I have a shorter cycle of ~31 days, followed by a longer 36/37 days. When we are TTC#2 I am going to use OPT from the beginning. Good luck!

We've been ttc for 8 months but i'm going to start the ovulation kits this month and I'm praying this works! but one question I have is do I have to wait for AF to come to start them or what? i'm 10 days late and negative pregnanct test from my dr.

I buy Wonfo brand of opks off ebay. They're super cheap so at least you can buy a bunch and use them without feeling guilty. The one thing I did notice though was the instructions say a solid control line with a lighter test line is negative but when I use them my test line has always been lighter than the control line but it was still positive because on the days when I was ov it didn't show up at all.

babycrazii571--You're supposed to start using opks after af so you know what cd you're on. As far as I know anyways. I have a 28 day cycle on average so I'm supposed to start testing on cd12. Sorry I couldn't be more help, hopefully someone knows what to do when af hasn't come and you're coming up neg. boooo!

Also, you're supposed to do the OPK's in the afternoon - I've seen a few posts basically saying 'I've been testing every day at 11.30am and not a single positive' today.

Try afternoon testing, starting a week after your period starts, twice a day if possible, so 2pm and 5pm? And be patient, I realised on my first cycle with them that I ovulate on day 16, so not right in the middle. I almost gave up day 14 too!!!!

Hi keann17! I ordered test strips from amazon.de along with hpts. if you order a lot of them (I got 50) it's definitely worth the shipping, especially with the Euro being so low.

Are they worth it?? I don't want to get them and then be stressed because I'm not seeing positive results or accurate results. Plus I'm not really sure when I should start taking them either. What's the best brand to buy? Online or from a store? Thanks ladies!
