Owen is 7 1/2 months old and I'm finally ready to post his story. It was pretty traumatizing. Everything I wanted to happen, didn't.
I was three days over due and fed up. OH and I went for a 3 mile walk. Later that evening contractions started coming and got unbearable at about 7 PM. We went to the hospital and found out I was 2.5 cm and 60% effaced. I wasn't dialated at all earlier at my doctors appt. they admitted me and watch for a while. I was having contractions that didn't dilate for almost 12 hours. They put medicine in my cervix to help dialation. Then they would start pitocin in the morning.
Well two hours after they inserted it, I started having unbearable pains. The nurse told me this was normal and asked me how I would handle actual labor if I couldn't handle this pain! Really? They got so intense and the nurse refused to check me. They still didn't believe I was in labor. After 9 hours of labor, between the bath and the bed and me screaming for nine hours straight I told them that was it and I wanted them to take the medicine out of my cervix. They told me I couldn't and still wouldn't believe I was in labor. Baby's heart dropped so another nurse came in and checked me, I was at a 6! And was told I could've had an epidural hours ago! ( I had been begging for one for 9 hours) i got the epidural half an hour later. I was checked right before the epidural and was an 8.5. I went from a 5 to 8.5 in half an hour!
After I had the epidural, life was good. I gave birth to Owen at 10:19 A.M. On September 21st. He was 8lbs 12 oz and 21.5 inches long. I didn't tear at all. He was totally worth it in the end. He's now 7 months old and 24 lbs
