How long did you/do you wear breastfeeding pads? Is leakage something that will happen as long as I'm breastfeeding therefor ill have to wear pads for the duration of bf if I don't want leakage spots? Or will the leaking slow down/stop?

I only leak when lo sleeps more than 4 hours between feeds. I used to leak more....it did slow down for me, after a few weeks.

I may just be an unlucky exception, but I wore breastpads until LO was nearly a year old. The leaking did reduce dramatically from the early days, when I had to change pads all the time, to being able to get away with using just one or two sets a day after maybe 3/4 months or so? And around 8ish months I swapped to the re-usable Avent ones, which at the beginning would soak through in no time, hence were completely useless in the beginning for me. Hopefully you'll be much luckier than me though.

I'm 13 weeks pregnant at the moment and really not looking forward to the whole leaking thing again, especially as breastpads here are ridicilously expensive.

They really are ridiculously expensive. $7 for like 60...wth? Maxi pads are bigger and soo much cheaper! I sometimes stick pantiliners in a sports bra for around the house....lol. Works fine.

I have only stopped using/needing breast pads recently, I still EE. So, in my case, the leaking has stopped somewhat.

Peggy- Genius! :haha:

Four months in I still leak a bit at random times but I was soaking through store bought nursing pads. I finAlly made my own out of two circles of fleece stuffed with cotton batting. I only go through one pair a day now unless I skip my morning pumping session then I leak all day

I'm still using them now at almost 9 months because my other breast leaks whenever I nurse. I don't leak between feedings or have spontaneous letdowns anymore though (I think that stopped pretty early on, maybe around 3 or 4 months?), so I don't really have to use them all the time but my LO eats so often that it's just easier to leave them in my bra

I'm the same as bananaz. I don't get spontaneous leaking anymore, but I still leak from the other whenever LO feeds, so I keep pads in all the time. I use fuzzibuns reusable ones. They're the only ones I can use all day long and not feel wet/clammy/blech.

I've been wondering the same thing, thanks ladies. I will say that I used the disposable ones for a few days, but my mom made me a bunch of washable ones made of flannel to go against the breast, some sort of padding in the middle, and fleece on the outside. They work amazingly!! I have never once leaked all the way through them, and believe me there was a time that I leaked like crazy. I'm so lucky to have a mom who loves to sew!
