So...friday 6th july, at 36w+5d,i thought i'd have a nice relaxing bath...i got in and all of sudden felt like i was weeing myself...sat there thinking 'god this is embarrassing'. I got out of the bath and sat on the toilet and water was leaking for a good 3-4 mins...i phoned the hospital for a bit of advice, lady said lie on you left side for an hour and ring me back with what happens. so i laid on my left side and found myself lying in a pool of water within minutes...i phoned back and they told me to go in...

got to the hospital and had a check over, waters have definitely broken, but as im only 36+5, im classed as pre-term labour so have to stay in now until the baby is born..
spent the night in the hospital on my own, but nothing happened..no contractions..nothing..
all of saturday and sunday...still nothing, so by sunday night, (48 hours after waters have gone) they induced me as they cant leave u any longer than 48 hours without water because of high risk of infection...

sunday night and all of monday...i was in pain, mostly in my back but still no regular contractions, and nothing i could say was excrutiating.
On monday afternoon at about 1pm, the midwife checked me over and i was 1cm dilated...they wanted to break my forewaters to get things going but were understaffed, so left it to happen on its own....which was about 30 mins later..

from this point onwards, still no regular contractions, nothing majorly painful, just really uncomfortable and fed up now...and exhausted, been awake since thursday night!

By 1am tuesday morning, 12 hours after the last check...i was only 3 cm dilated and still getting nowhere..so i had to be put on a hormone drip to start contractions thick and fast!!

after the hormone drip was turned up to the highest to get things moving, i was in agony straight away, mostly in my back still but totally unbearable.
I tried the gas and air...made me feel a bit strange so opted for an epidural at about 2am.
Best thing i ever did!
I topped my epidural up every half an hour...until it stopped working and i had to be given a higher dose of anasthetic.
by this point i couldnt feel any pain at all...bliss!

At 4.30am i was checked again....."Paige, youre fully dilated, you cant have any more epidural and we will start pushing in an hour!"

so at about 5.50am, as my contractions start to get really painful, im told to push............and push............and push..........

1 hour later.....im getting nowhere, completely exhausted, baby's heart rate was dropping, pain was far too intense and i just couldnt push anymore...
I had to have forceps and an episiotomy to get my little man out as he was getting too distressed...

So on tuesday 10th july, (19 days early) at 7.11am, my beautiful baby boy, Connor, was born, weighing 6lb 10oz.

I lost 800ml of blood and had to stay in until wednesday night, but now we're home and he's doing great, he's 15 days old today and its gone so quick!

I never ever imagined there would be pain like it....but he is worth every single bit and more :cloud9:
