I've been having pains/twinges on only my right side for the past week or so (I think I'm about 6.5 wks now). They are totally random throughout the day and only last for 1-2 minutes. I haven't felt anything on the left side though. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is it normal?

ive had a pain in one side a couple days ago....had the same last pregnancy. was told the ovary that the egg is from can get inflamed xx

MEEE!!!!!! With my first LO, I had cramping only on my right side from the day after O ALLLLLLLL the way until 5-6weeks!!!!! Doctor said that was the side my egg was released from.

OK, thank god you posted this, I was about to post the SAME THING!!!!

Ever since O I have cramped on the right side, and when I had implantation cramping it was all over, but primarily on the right side.

Now I am 5 weeks, and cramping is back, but almost exclusively on the right side (very rarely I will get some all over cramps). It actually is going down my pelvic area into my right thigh today. Of course when you search this, eptoptic comes up immediately, which freaks me out. Then you read forums where tons of women say they called their doctors and were told it was totally normal an had healthy pregnancies!

So my situation
1. No bleeding or spotting
2. No intense pain, it's really just mild/slightly annoying but has gone on throughout the day
3. No fever or any other symptoms (other than very sore boobs today!)

I want to think this is normal, but does anyone think this merits a call/visit to the doc? Or is it just standard uterus stretching? It's just so weird it's almost only on the right!!! Sorry to highjack your thread, but didn't want to double post :-)

You just wrote my entire story as well! I had INTENSE cramping following O on my right side, and then after a few days it was on and off cramping but only on my right side but lasted until about 6wks.
When I would google, I would get scared reading about ectopic.
I called the nurses line and they said they wouldn't be able to tell if its a viable pregnancy until at least 6 or 7wks, I believe it was.
So instead of waiting for them to see me at 9wks, I went in a 6 and half if I remember right. I was able to see and hear the HB and put all my worries to rest.
So it is totally normal!! My LO is healthy and happy and 8months old now!
HTH!

Just wanted to say- THANK YOU for sharing your experiences and putting my mind at ease. Today I had slight cramping all over but as always more on the right. Not nearly as bad as yesterday- but my boobs were sorer and I was super tired! I guess these things will come and go. All I can do is pray for a healthy baby! Congrats on your LO! Thanks again :-)

Yes, thank you! Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I guess I'm just really worried because my first scan isn't until Monday so I have no idea how things are going  I have a lot of symptoms - sore and full boobs, tiredness, peeing a lot, and nausea - so I definitely feel pregnant!

So does anyone knowing exactly what causes the pain this early in pregnancy?

I too had this with my current pregnancy....m,ade me nervous at first(everything did though) all was well!!!

I know how scary it can be. I went in at 4wks because the cramping on my right side became sooooo intense and the doctors pretty much said there is nothing they can do yet. It was too early.

When I finally had the first scan they said this is the side that the egg was released from and also they noticed a corpus luteum cyst which I guess is pretty normal during pregnancy.
The corpus luteum releases progesterone until the placenta takes over around 12 weeks gestation.
They said that was most likely causing my intense cramping on my right side.

Thanks for the info! I had no idea. It's amazing how little women know about their bodies until they are pregnant/TTC!

Out of curiosity is your baby a boy? I was reading an article the other day where they found that right side ovulation and implantation overwhelming leads to male births and left for females. Just wondering if there is any truth to it (although I guess it's 50/50 anyway!) We aren't going to find out, but it's fun to guess :-)

I'm still having cramping on left side and left side only, I ovulated from that ovary this month & the baby is also 'attached' on the left side. It's normal :)

hi hun I have had these for past few days and is why i thought i may be expecting. :happydance:we found out today and since i have PCOS i can be either 11 weeks or 6 weeks. i have long periods. i think its due to the abdomen stretching and i notice mine happens when i get up or get out of car. I got to very strong test line :BFP: today right away. so im thinking im closer to 11 weeks. congrats on your new little one. i gotta find a obgyn now :)

Yes! I do have a baby boy! I didn't know about that study.
Since you don't plan on finding out, are you just planning to have the nursery room gender neutral same as the clothing?

I am in my 2ww at the moment with TTC #2 and I am feeling the right side cramping again, Hoping it means I am carrying!

Wow, maybe there is something to it! I couldn't find the paper I was reading (the official one) but here's the recap- sounds like there's something to it! https://pregnancy.about.com/od/genderpredictions1/ss/Ramzis-Method-To-Determine-Fetal-Gender.htm

I guess that would make it a boy- would be lovely, but at this point all I want is healthy and sticky!!!

Now the cramping is kind of all over my uterus, but always a little stronger on the right! Can't wait for my 8 week u/s to see where the baby actually is....
