Today (16w5d) I had a transvaginal ultrasound to check my cervical length. The techs always push on my uterus to give a fundal pressure measurement. Today, the tech really pushed down HARD with her hand around my bellybutton to stimulate cervical pressure. I had to suppress a groan because it was so painful! I don't care as long as they get the right measurement, but now my irational brain is thinking that she might've hurt the baby by pressing so hard.

Please ease my mind...there's no way she hurt the baby, right? I'm just being nuts?

The person doing your ultrasound is a trained professional and I'm certain she knows how hard to press. The baby is well protected in there so I am sure your baby is just fine!

Don't worry...I had a similar freak-out when I told my hubby he could poke at my uterus and the baby would move inside...and then he pressed harder than I expected! But I remember my dr pressing quite hard and I think it's totally safe.

Your baby is very well protected in there. My last two ultrasounds have been very painful for the exact same reasons as you.

I am sure you're fine! Like a pp said, the person is a trained professional and wouldn't press harder than she needed to. I have to get cervical length checks every 2 weeks and they always press pretty hard and my baby is still just fine! He just doesn't like it and squirms away from the pressure. There's lots of cushion for baby!
