Hi! I’m 33 weeks pregnant and I’m a school nurse. They painted our office I believe with oil based paint a week ago but it still smells like paint. I waited 4 days before I came and sat in the office to let the fumes subside but they’re still here. I’ve got both windows open, the door is open l, a fan Is going and a scentsy is burning. Is there any risk to my baby? I’m a nervous wreck.

Hey! You’re good. All modern paints have such high safety standards that, yes not all paint is created equal and oil based isn’t ideal. But at four days later with the windows open, the exposure is very low. You could try wearing a mask though for peace of mind/minimize the scent. There’s not a ton or research out there but sounds like the big concern is direct and high exposure, and it sounds like you’re doing everything you can to minimize it. I’d say try not to worry but I get it. It’s a scary time.

Thank you! I just didn’t know how long the scent was toxic. I’m just a nervous person

It’s all good. I’d love to say the worry goes away, but it doesn’t haha. My mom was just worrying about me yesterday  I remember reading like avoid the room for two days but even if it is still toxic, the amount of toxin and infrequent exposure pose such a low risk to your baby. Hard not to worry though
