Hi girls. I am EBF and I just noticed the sandwich I was scarfing down had moldy bread! I ate about half of it before I noticed, and obviously didn't eat the rest. Currently I feel fine (although it only happened about 15 minutes ago) but now I'm sitting here breast feeding, in a complete panic about how it could effect my milk! I have some pumped milk in the freezer, but it would have to thaw before I could use it, and Aubree doesn't even take bottles. :(

What do I do? Does anyone know if the moldy bread will make me or baby sick? Please help!

Hopefully it won't make you sick as only a few types of mould out of many make people sick. As for your baby, any mould will not pass into your milk at all, it's not possible for it to do so, instead it will be dealt with by your digestive system and hopefully pass out of your body without making you sick either. I have eaten mouldy veg pate and mouldy bread while pregnant, the pate was in a metal tube and heat treated during manufacture so was safe for pregnant women but I left it in the fridge for three weeks and whole it says it's fine for up to four weeks, as it had no preservative it depended on the temperature of the fridge etc I guess. Also ate mouldy bread recently, as it was just bought but was mouldy inside as there was a manufacturing issue xx

Thank you! We just bought our bread last week, too. And it's an onion loaf so at first I didn't even notice the mold. Then upon further examination and a sniff test, I confirmed it was for sure mold. Yuck. :(
