I have my lap & dye scheduled for Wednesday, but I have a cold!!! Its been coming on since last Tuesday. It started with a sore throat, and has progressed to a chesty cough, lots of phlegm (sorry), and a runny/blocked nose. I'm dosed up on paracetemol, cough mixture, Beecham All-in-One etc, and I'm sending OH down to Morrisons to pick me up some Vitamin C tablets and lots of orange juice.

I'm really hoping that it has gone before Wednesday, because I reckon that they will cancel the surgery if it hasn't. It's already had to be postponed once because of the stupid :witch: being due the same day.

I don't know whether to ring the hospital on Monday, or leave it till Wednesday morning. The only problem is if I leave it till the last minute, and they cancel me, it'll be too late for them to offer the slot to someone else. And because I work in the inpatient office at the hospital, I know how much it costs the NHS when a theatre list goes down.

Aaagghh, why can't my body just co-operate with me for ONCE!

I never get sick, and then the ONE time that I really can't afford to be ill, I'm ill.

Gah!

Oh Sweetie, I'm so sorry...try and sweat it out....eat plenty of good food and drinks lots....try and flush the sod out!

I genuinely hope that you are feeling better by Wednesday. I had my first Lap and Dye appointment canceled too and therefore know how dis-heartening it is...I shall keep my fingers and toes crossed for you and shall send you some healing energy!

Thanks hun. I'm feeling a little better after all the drugs I've taken, but my crackly voice gives me away!!

Please, please, please let me be better by Wednesday!

I had a cold when I had mine done and it wasn't cancelled.

Fingers crossed the vitamin c does it and you wont have to cancel your appointment.

Thinking of you darling x

I would think they'll still do it, so don't panic. Look after yourself and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! :hugs:

When I went in for my lap the lady in the bed next to me who was also having a lap had a cold and sore throat and she asked them if it was ok for her to have the op and they said it wasnt a problem at a - but that she might find her throat was more sore afterwards if they had to put a tube down her throat.

So I am sure they will do yours too honey.

Crossing fingers for you - keep up with that vit c.

bx x :hugs::hugs:

I was completely fcuked after my lap. Had to stay overnight, totally dehydrated, on a drip, elevated pulse and an inability to even keep water down.

I asked if it was anything to do with the fact that I had a cold and they said no, that it was simply an adverse reaction to the anaesthetic. A cold, they said, would have no bearing on anything.

Had a bit of a sore throat because of tube though, but even those without a cold get that.

how are you felling now?

My lap op has been resheduled now for the 12th as the hospital messed up the date!

I'm back from my lap & dye now. They asked me if I had had any recent cold or coughs, but I lied and said 'No'.

Everything went ok, apart from my throat absolutely killing me at the moment! I can barely talk. Bit sore on my tummy, but its not as bad as I though it would be.

Just got to wait 6 weeks for my follow up appt now. More details in my journal though.

Good then that it all went ahead, glad your ok and take care!

Glad everything went well hun. xx
