My mother keeps saying she prefers boys to girls!! Even though she knows I'm having a girl!
She used to say it when my sis in law was pregnant to and she had a girl too!
My parents have 2 grandsons my nephews who are both amazing and Neive who is equally lush!
It really pisses me off that she says this and its in front of other people to.. She says little boys are better.. I could honestly cry when she says it along with wanting to give her a slap!!

Any one else had this??

I wish I had something wise to say but I don't I'm sorry . I have 2 girls and 1 boy and I'm hoping for a boy this time round as I have to admit boys are easier . However I have a 21 year old daughter who I have the best relashionship with so I am really happy I've had girls also xxxx

If it was my mom I would tell her to keep her opinions to herself as i'm trying to enjoy MY own experience! They are both fun individuals :flower:

I've told her to keep opinions to herself. Shes far too outspoken though.. When I was choosing my wedding dress she slated all the frocks in the shop practically totally embarrassing.. She boils my blood at times!

how old is your mum (sry if that sounds rude) . Maybe she is going through a change xx

I'm sorry but I would take it to offense because I am a GIRL! in fact i'm my mother's only child so if she said she preferred boys (my mom would never say that) but if she did I would be hurt because I'd feel like WTF you don't like me???

I'm sorry :hugs: don't let your mom get to you. Who cares what her preference is... you have a beautiful little girl who you are going to love to pieces! :)

I'm always lectured on "how she thought it would be a girl" i have 3 boys (one inside my tummy haha) and me and OH couldn't be happier, we didn't have any preference, all we care about is a healthy baby, but all 3 times i've gotten the girl lecture, its tiring and i bet it is with the opposite sex too so i feel your pain! xxxx

Oh she's deffo going through the change of life.. It just sounds so bitchy n awful when she says it it really grinds my gears! I'm going to have a few harsh words next time I hear her say it! There is no need at all for it.. Thanks ladies :) xx

Are you sure she doesn't mean it in a light hearted way? My parents (i am their only child) always say how they love girls and don't know what to do with a boy! Does not mean they are not super excited for the boy I'm having though...

Ugh that's annoying. My mom (before we found out the gender) made it very clear that she wanted the baby to be a girl, (even though we wanted a boy) because she has 2 grandsons already, but she wasn't rude about it. And she was over the freaking moon when we found out we are in fact having a girl lol.

But, my bf's dad on the other hand, was the opposite. He made some kind of rude, nasty comment about my baby being a girl...My bf won't even tell me what he said, so it must be bad. Something along the lines of giving the baby up since 'all women are evil'. Ugh.... Sickens me to think about it. My bf's dad is a pretty big pile of garbage, anyway, so needless to say I'm not disappointed that he won't be apart of my baby's life (since we live 600 miles away).

My son missed the memo that boys are easier lol I must admit im glad I have two girls :) try not to take it to heart! Girls are lush x

I'm not speaking to my aunty after she made similar comments about wanting a girl when we told her it was a boy. Must be really hard when it's your mum :hugs:

I have 1 boy and my brother has a son and another boy on the way so my mum has made no secret of the fact that she would love me to have a girl this time, as would my mil. That's not to say that she doesn't adore both her grandsons though and I know she will adore this baby too whatever it is. Her comments are all very light hearted. Im sorry your mum is being so insensitive and has her comments have hurt you. I would tell her. Xx
