Hi everyone, just wanted some advice on what kind of part time work schedule has worked good for others. I am hoping to go back to work part time (either 3 or 4 days a week). Just want some advice on whether it's best to work those 3 or 4 days in a row (eg. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) or stagger them through the week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). I want to make the transition and the schedule as smooth as possible for my baby. Not sure which is more recommended.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I work Monday to Wednesday . . . I like this as I have a 4 day weekend!! Also me and my little boy get into the swing of work/nursery then we have our time together.
Works well for us

Are you in the UK?

I am thinking of going back part time but I would be doing tuesd/wed/thurs. Still get a long weekend but that way I wont have to pay for childcare on a bank holiday monday. Some places make you pay 50% or something like that so I would check into that.

I currently work 20 hours a week which consists of Wednesday , Thursday, Friday and Saturday 5 hours 1-6 or 12 - 5 hope to do it the same way, get Sunday Monday and Tuesday off so it's nice and don't have to work bank holiday mondays :) x

I work Monday- wednesday, gets it all out of the way, then a 4 day weekend, love it and wouldn't change it :flower:

Hi

I work Monday and Thursday. I don't particularly like working Mondays. I originally wanted to work Wednesday and Friday but work would not let me.

I defo like working 4days in a row than spreading it out though just have to make sure it is set ours and not flexi hours as I never no what I am doing otherwise. X

I work Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays. When I first started this job I would have preferred 3 days together, just to get a run of 4 days off, but in hindsight I now prefer it being spread over the week. It's better for LO as he doesn't nap very well at nursery (too much going on) and he is shattered by the end of the day - even more so at the end of his Thursday there - so I'm dread to think what he'd be like after 3 or more straight days of nursery.

Plus it's quite nice for me going in on a Monday knowing I get Tuesday off!

Most nurseries make you pay full for bank holidays. Some will offer you an alternative day if they can, but no guarantee. It is a pain if you work on Mondays, but I suppose they still have to pay their staff for those days.

It's the same for any holidays you take or sickness, etc - you just pay full. I remember when LO first started nursery he was ill almost constantly for the first month (in contact with new germs!), he missed almost as many days as he was there, but we had to pay for every single day :nope:
