Passed GTT this time but high monitor readings?

I'm getting a little concerned, as I passed my GTT the other week but I've been having high monitor readings. I've been testing my sugars with the monitor since 16 weeks as it was offered to me since I was gestational diabetic in my last pregnancy.

They more or less told me I would have it this time, as it's rare to have it once and not have it in another pregnancy, so I just assumed I would have it. Before the test I had one reading 9.8 at the highest and about 6-7 readings of 7.8-8.2 the whole time I was testing since 16 weeks to 28 weeks and the rest of the readings were normal. As those of you in the UK will know anything over 7.8 is considered abnormal so it was only abnormal by a little bit apart from the 9.8.

Anyway....I apparently passed my GTT...after two hours my blood test was 6.8 but im wondering if the fact she retook my bloods 10mins later than she should have because she forgot about me would have made a difference? I came earlier than my appointment and got there before the person before me so she did my bloods before them early, then forgot and almost took the other person back in first before me so it cost around 10mins delay.

Anyway...I've been doing my sugars since because I'm worried that they're wrong and after tea last night I had a reading of 10.1 which is the highest I've had. I also sat my GTT at 30 weeks in my previous pregnancy so who knows if my body does start reacting worse in the later stages of pregnancy?
I'm just terrified that I'll start to get GD again around the later stages, and now they won't take me seriously. I'm concerned about the placenta function after 40 weeks and terrified of going over due because of stillbirth. The fact that I had GD last time scares me as it's more likely that it'd happen again.

Bump

I am fuming! I have had two 7.8-7.9 readings since the 10.1 and today after dinner my reading was 7.8 and I'd sat down and eaten the exact same sunday lunch as everybody else in the family, it wasn't a huge portion, it wasn't packed out with carbs. Surely I should NOT be having these readings if I passed the stupid GTT.

Surely as somebody without GD I should be able to eat things without having stupid readings, and not have to still eat like somebody with it anyway. Geeeeeeeez. I am just so frustrated that I'm having high readings, I still can't eat "normally" and have to act like I have GD even though now everybody is treating me as if I haven't got it. I just feel like crying  I know nobody here can do anything, and I will call tomorrow and try to sort it out but I just feel like I needed to tell someone, and someone might have some advice.

I passed my glucose tolerance test but was told to monitor my levels and they kept rising. Ended up on medication and they still kept rising. They were about to put me on insulin but I ended up being induced at 37 weeks. My blood sugar levels are fine now but my babies were low when he was first born but they soon went up after he had regular feeds. I would push for another glucose tolerance test and speak to someone about your readings. They should be treating you as having GD even though you passed the GTT.

How long after eating are you testing? I've been diagnosed with GD (my levels were borderline) and they only have me testing before meals and before bed. My Dad has type 2 though so I've learned a little bit about testing over the years.

Thanks for the replies, they're still seeing me in the diabetic clinic and keeping an eye on it just incase. Haven't had a response about whether or not I do have it though.

Ickle_Pand - I'm testing before meals, and then 1 hour after meals like I did in my last pregnancy when I did actually have the gestational diabetes(well, failed the test to say so!)

See my Dad tests 2 hours after eating. Maybe do both a couple of times and see if your figures are better. The GTT I did tested me 2 hours after I drank the drink, but I know they so it differently in different places.

Are your before meals figures within the normal range?

I just had a look at the diabetes UK site and it gives levels for before eating and 2 hours afterwards and says that the levels might be different but not the time. Might be worth double checking again that after an hour is right, especially since it seems like you're eating properly.

Here's the page I found in case you want a look yourself https://www.diabetes.org.uk/Guide-to-diabetes/Monitoring/Blood_glucose/Blood_glucose_targets/

Thanks! Yep, I've definitely been told to check one hour after each meal. I thought the same as you though that it's weird since they ask you to wait 2 hours to draw bloods for the actual GTT and I sat two hours instead of one too

It's weird, cus some times I can eat basically anything and have normal readings and then other times I eat something normal that I've had a week before with normal readings and all of a sudden I get high readings for a few days after them then they seem to calm down again

My before meals are always normal

That's fair enough then. I'd mention it to your midwife. Better to get it checked out than worry.

The reason they say 1 hour after eating while you're pregnant is because they like you to have tighter control. I'm type 2 diabetic and tested 2 hours after eating before I got pregnant but was told to take it 1 hour after eating when I got preg :)

Ah ok that makes sense. I'm only testing before eating but I'm not on any treatment, just diet controlled so maybe that's why.
