My OH has been told by his employers he's allowed paternity leave, but that THEY won't pay him, but that they'll look into if he can get pay another way.
He didn't work for them before my pregnancy and doesn't slot into the criteria for any help really. But I was wondering if there's a way he can get income support or JSA or something for the week or so he's off with me?

He works permanent nights, 3 days on and 3 days off, 12 hour shifts. If he was in a normal day job I don't think it'd be such an issue, but as it's nights and so long, he gets home about 7.15am and then can sometimes get to sleep straight away, other times it's about 10am by the time he's asleep. Normally wakes around 2pm+ and has to be back at work at 7pm. So I'd be pretty lonely and scared with a newborn and barely any support.

He doesn't have spare holiday as we need him to use it for the Christmas/New years week his factory is shut.

We are going to CAB tomorrow to discuss with them, but I came online and thought I'd ask seeing as there must be SOMEONE in the same(ish) boat!
Any help is wonderful!:flower:

If you do not qualify for Ordinary Statatory Paternity Pay, or earn less than £107 a week, you may be entitled to income support while on ordinary paternity leave (OPL). Other financial support may also be available. Contact your local Jobcentre Plus office for advice.
