I don't know where to start really!

It never occured to me that I would ever have a problem trying to have a baby, as I'd had a baby at 18 and another at 19 despite being on the pill both times.

I had split with their father within a year of my daughter's birth, and so never bothered with contraceptives after this - there was no need!

When I met my hubby, we both fell head over heels fairly quickly, and even moved in together within 6 weeks.
We weren't using contraceptives from this point, as it was a case of "when it happens it happens".

We got married a year later, and I have to say, it was beginning to concern me that nothing had happened yet, especially with my other 2 being conceived so easily (and without planning).
My hubby also has a son, conceived from a very short relationship 8 years ago now.

I went to see my Doctor 18 months after we'd been trying, and all she basically said was that as I had children, and he had a child, there was clearly nothing wrong with either of us, and told me to go home and keep trying.
I explained to her that it had been picked up at my 12 week scan with my son, that I had mulitple ovarian cysts, but still she wasnt interested.
My weight began to creep up and up, despit being active and eating healthily, and then I began sprouting random hairs everywhere.

I suffer badly from ovulation pains, and noticed I was only getting them every 3 months or so.
My cycle also went on a 3 month pattern,
month 1 it would last 5 weeks
month 2 it would last 6 weeks and
month 3 it would be 7 weeks between periods.

Eventually, after just over 2 and a half years, my Doctor finally agreed to refer us on to see a specialist - but she said the wait could be up to a year.

I was beginning to get frustrated, as i could see the gap between my children and the potential baby getting bigger and bigger.

So, I contacted a clinic in Newcastle for us to have private investigative treatment.
Just before Christmas 2008, we got a letter asking us to go for an appointment at the beginning of February.. I was sooooo excited.

Anyways, come New Year, hubby and I couldnt afford to go out, and decided to have a romantic night in, just the 2 of us.
I dont know if it was the combination of the snow, the wine we'd consumed and the fact the living room looked so cosy just under the lights of the christmas tree or the letter my daughter had written to Father Christmas asking for a sister... but we ended up doing the deed right under the tree!!!

2 weeks later, I had the most awful sciatica I'd ever suffer from, and was popping pills like nobody's business. I took co-codamol, Ibuprofen, Dicolfenac.. so many, I gave myself an ulcer (didnt realise diclofenac couldnt be taken with ibuprofen.. whoops).
I had to go to A&E where the Doc asked me if I could be pregnant.. given our problems, I laughed and said "nope, no way".

I was sent away with pills for a kidney infection, for my ulcer and other pills for my sciatica.

At the end of January, I was sat at work, feeling awful, but I put it down to how ill I'd been throughout January. When I fell asleep at my desk during lunchtime, one of my colleagues jokingly asked if I was pregnant.. dont be ridiculous, was my reply.

But the seed had been planted in my head.. I counted back and realised it had been 8 weeks to the day since I'd last had my period.. unheard of even my cycle.

I stopped at asda on the way home and bought a couple of digi tests... I had intended to do them the next morning with FMU when hubby got home.. but I couldnt help myself.
I did one as soon as I got in and it came up straight away with "Pregnant 3+".

I was stunned. Totally.

I think it took hubby about 2 months to get used to the idea!!

And so far, despite all the meds I was on in really early pregnancy, my little princess appears to be perfect, and I cant wait to meet her.

Wow I can't believe the ignorance of doctors when a woman has had a child before.

:hugs: but a great story and great ending!

If your family is complete maybe you want to reconsider a new tree?

Great story hun, glad you finally got your happy ending :hugs:
