PCOS and diet

Hi,

I was just wondering which diet has worked best and quickest for those with PCOS?.

It depends if you have a high insulin resistances then a low carb diet but for PCOS mostly a low gi diet, which works better in both cases. Having a low gi diet will hopefully help to stop hormonal spikes!!!

I just got my insulin resistances test back yesterday and it was over 20 so I'm going to start a low gi diet and low carb diet.
 
Thanks hun. I'm not sure about insulin, i have just had a glucose tolerance test (the one where you have a blood test, then a glucose drink, then two more blood tests on the hour) to check for diabetes, would that be the same test for insulin resistance do you know?, it came back normal.

I'm not sure! But I've heard good things about PSOC and a low gi diet.
 
hi i went on a calorie controlled diet and did 30 mins cardio 6 times per week and lost over 100lbs dropping to 112lbs (im only 5ft 2 ) that was over 2 yrs ago and i no longer have pcos it took just over 12mths
 
i forgot to say i only had af about 3 times a year before i lost the weight it gradually came more often and eventually regularly every 31 days
 
raf-wife....Thats amazing, well done you!!. Did you create your own plan or follow a calorie based plan like Weight Watchers?

i stuck to 1200 cals a day and tried to eat things with less than 5gs of fat i split my meals into 6 small ones so i wouldnt be too hungry (i am a snacker) and i used a lot of weight watchers products from the supermarket i also upped my fluid intake (sugar free) it was really really hard for the first few weeks but it gets easier as you start to see the results and its so worth it not only for cosmetic reasons although it is lovely buying small sizes its mainly the amount of energy i have now,

I am about to embark on the GI diet as I have been told I have PCOS x
 
If the :witch: shows her face this cycle I am going back on my diet. I do the 1200 cal deit and I also use alot of weight watchers stuff from the market. I lost 35 lbs on it last time in three months I was also doing Zumba six times a week. I still do the Zumba cause I love it but I am not watching my intake like I was so I am at a stand still on weight lose.
