anyone else here?

I have most of the other symptoms but my doctor is stunned as I'm not overweight. He has a hard time diagnosing me, but after my last ultrasound, he has no choice as I clearly have small cysts on my ovaries!

:)

I guess it's kind of a relief to have a name to it?

I can't help you as I have PCOS but I am overweight according to my Gyno...

Is he still treating you for PCOS? How so?

Hi Wttmommy.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS but i'm ot overweight either.
All my blood results suggested i have it and the FS was quite sure that it was PCOS however he didn't give me a scan.
My FS didn't really seem that concearned that i wasn't over weight. He said its quite common for different woment to suffer with different symptoms and not all women are the same.
Its a blessing that I don't have the weight thing to tackle as well!

I apparently have PCOS and I've never been overweight. My friend had severe PCOS and she was a size 6 at times.

Thanks girls :D

I got my :bfp: this morning after being diagnosed with PCOS so I'm totally over the moon.

:dust: to you all!

Thank you!

I haven't had any meds yet. I have an appointment scheduled with my endocrinologist July 23rd and he was going to tell me whether or not I ovulated, and he was going to put me on some meds. I was also getting weekly blood tests to monitor for ovulation.

I have quite long periods myself and have an ultra sound booked in two weeks.. just worried.. my periods are around cd35 to cd54 i been ttc since stoppin bc in sept last yr but its so hard to know when i am ovulating with these messed up cycles.. my gyno mentioned clomid and metro tho so really hoping to push for that soon!!

xx

The way I understand it, is you can have polycystic ovaries (PCO) without having polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is more than just about having cysts on your ovaries - it causes your body to produce to much insulin which causes hormonal abnormalities leading to weight gain/spots/hirsutism etc. PCO is basically cysts on the ovaries, nothing else. So you can have PCO with no symptoms, meaning you don't have PCOS. Both can cause problems with fertility.

Hope that helps!

Thanks girls :D

Congratulations! So pleased for you! Yay! :happydance:

I've been diagnosed now nearly a year and have never been overweight, Its difficult finding any info on PCO and I feel totally cheated that I've got it. I'm 35 now and feel that time is ticking loudly in my ear holes!!

Happy and healthy 9 months to you my dear!

Ney Ney, your cats are gorgeous! I've always wanted a Bengal, lucky you!

so i walk into my gyno's office to take care of excessive hair (i'm of Eastern European descent and thought it would merely be something along the lines of: oh that's common, here is what you can do) but no...after blood tests the doctor said PCOS :dohh: and i had never heard it before so i began reading...i'm not overweight (never have been, so does that mean that if i have it i will become overweight???:shrug:) i have my periods regular now (although before I was too thin and needed birth control to make them happen) aaaand i don't have dark skin patches or skin tags and have an appointment to see about cysts... right now i just want to know: should i be worried that one day i will be overweight and insulin resistant among other things if at the moment i do not display such signs:cloud9:

I have pcos and a lot of the other symptoms but I am not overweight, I never have been though, even before the days of my having pcos, I do keep an eye on my weight though as I have heard from others that trying to lose weight with pcos is incredibly hard...

WTTMummy, congrats :happydance:

I am the same, I have been told I have PCOS but I am underweight. I posted a thread ages ago but no one else replied saying they were underweight.
I have veryyyyyyy long cycles and a few other symptoms, but apparently you only have PCOS if you have 3 symptoms or more?

Good luck everyone x x x
