Hey,

I just found out on Monday that I have got PCOS after a year of TTC. My next step is to go and see the specialist and find out more but I was wondering if there is anyone on here that also has PCOS and can answer some questions and be my buddy along the way? I did try and post in a PCOS forum but haven't even got 1 reply so thought I would try here cause everyone seems so nice! Hope I have posted this in the right place.

Hi Stoon ive had PCOS for 6 years happy to help with any questions x

Hi Chan,

Thanks for reply, I have lots of questions that keep popping into my head!

I was wondering, if I buy a CBFM, will I get an accurate result from this if and when I ovulate or will having PCOS affect this?

That is the first of many questions!

Do you have a journal I can read?

x

I have been diagnosed with PCOS too. I share your pain of extra worries regarding TTC!

Hope we all get these two lines shortly!

Lots of hugs to you all :hugs:

Hi My angel,

What are you doing (apart from the obvious!!) to TTC... just not sure what my options are with regard to fertility monitors and things like that?

x

Hi Sdoon I dont use one just for the fact that for the past two years ive only had 4 periods. So it will work out too expencive with the CBFM sticks.

Im going to see a fertility specialist next week, so hopfuly I get some help with TTC.

They have put me on Metformin to regulate my insulin and ive tried sticking to a low carb diet as this helps.

I havent got a journal but I am going to write one next week so I'll keep you posted x

Hi Sdoon,

i have had PCOS since i was 16 - now coming up to 10 years of it, and i to have very irregular cycles. i have gained lots of weight with it, i am on metformin (i am on 3x500mg per day) it helps i think but it (TMI) makes me nauseous and gives me diarrhoea... horrible i know, but it has helped with the weight and my metabolism, which is the aim at the end of the day. i have the syndrome which means i have the hair problem, but waxing helps with that. i'm coming up for 6 months since my last period, and this is so frustrating when we are TTC, there is no rhyme or reason to it! but when i do get AF it is crippling, i physically cannot move for days. i have been known to have periods that last for 42 days. after 30 days i get admitted into hospital and get put on a drip and have a blood transfusion as i am an extremely heavy bleeder. i have anaemia due to the blood loss which is helped by ferrous sulphate tabs.

it is a way of life that i have gotten used to and thankfully my husband has too... :) if i can help you in any way, give me a shout and i will be happy to help.

i wish you every luck in you TTC journey. i might be stalking you to see how you are getting on, i will need to find your journal though! lol

xx

I am waiting for my period so I can have the necessary blood tests done
Its a weird feeling. I was depressed for the first 2 days and didnt even want to talk to anyone :nope: But now I have done some research and I feel like I am 1 step closer to my goal! :cloud9:

Feel free to talk to me anytime :hugs: xxx

@chan - good luck with your appointment at the FC, hope it goes well, I am going tomorrow x

@jenbrem - I can imagine how frustrating it must be to not have a period for 6 months when you are TTC and when they come they sound terrible. Will they be able to give you something stronger to stimulate ovualation or is the metformin going to help with that? I have a bit of a problem with hair too although my beautcian says I don't but think she's trying to make me feel better :haha: I have had electroylisis on my top lip for the last 4 years which has really helped that area but v. painful! I do have a journal... it's in the journal section - not sure how to do a link to it?

@myangel - good luck with your blood tests, am willing AF for you so you can get them done. I feel much better now for doing some research and chatting to you guys on here.

Wishing us all lots of :dust: on our baby journey. It may take a little longer for us but we'll get there in the end :baby:

xx
