hi ladies,

so everytime i tell someone about my pcos there like oh but ur not over weight...

lol - makes me wonder if metformin is the right drug for me as my bmi is 23. so if i was insulin resistant surely i would be a bit larger?? or have i got this totally wrong??

not everyone who has insulin resistance is overweight

My BMI is 25 and yet Im on Metformin. My DR said I should take it "just in case"

I haven't even had a blood test for IR. But I tolerate Metformin well so have been taking it since June. Apparently it can help Clomid work - even in non-IR/not overweight ladies

My only external symptom of PCOS are acne  They are horrible nasty things and are all over my back - I had to get a new wardrobe after stopping the pill - I can't wear any open tops anymore

Hey all!

Emz, did they not give you a blood test to check IR?

I've got pcos dont ovulate and am not overweight, my BMI is 20. Ive just got my blood test results back to test if I am IR and I am not! I had to practically beg my gp to do a BT to test for it but wanted to rule that out as a reason for my lack of ov!

I dont know what my problem is as to why I do not ov other than pcos that cannot be controlled...I had a pelvic scan a couple of years ago and the results came back normal.

The only test that I have had is a blood test that showed that my testosterone levels were 2.7 (up to 2.6 is the normal range). As I do not have periods, have random facial hair growth (hidden by alot of plucking) and suffer from bad skin I have been diagnosed with PCOS.

Clomid has not worked for me so I am waiting for an appointment for ovarian drilling and am praying that is the answer as nothing else seems to work, have tried countless supplements diets etc!!!

Does anyone have any positive stories about regulating cycles, getting their body to ov?

I am soo frustrated with it, its almost as if 'skinny pcos' is worse that being overweight with it as at least losing weight seems to help alot of women ovulate, there seems to be nothing for girls like us that do not need to lose weight!!

Sorry rant over

Hi. My BMI is 19. I have PCOS and IR but normal periods. I also have only one tube. Based off bbt I would say I ovulate on my own. I start clmoid on Thurs and have my first IUI next week.

Hi

Im the same, BMI 23 and don’t ovulate. I have slightly elevated hormones and of my periods come once in a blue moon, lucky if i get two a year and I don’t have any cysts just have 'other' known symptoms.
Anyway I’ve been put on metformin after nearly 4yrs and after 6 weeks had the most painful AF of my life, which is saying alot. I was hopeful that because Af had visited that I might have OV'd but after reading other stories it appears that might not be the case.
So, i am more confused  than ever and thought starting metformin was progress be I don’t seem to be able to let myself be positive at all, I have even decided not to test until AF has occurred regular at least a few times.
It looks that I am not the only one... all I can say is good luck all and it'll be nice to here any success stories or a least some usable information as it seems a few of you are in the same boat xx

Hi everyone! I also am not overweight with PCOS. BMI is 19.5. Not sure if I am IR either. Dr is testing a few more things. I do not have excess facial hair (although I have noticed a few extra blonde hair on my upper lip- not sure if i am starting to imagine things), no acne, and am waiting on my testosterone levels. I have lots of cysts on my ovaries and only get a few periods per year. I guess that was enough to DX me. Dr wants to start clomid next cycle, but havent decided what to do yet. I did get pg with PCOS in May but sadly ended with MC at 6 weeks. I may wait out another natural cycle to see if my body will OV on its own again.
