I have had 4 miscarriages in the past, the most resent being this year in March.
I have just been diagnosed with PCOS (mild) after a scan but im confused.

I thought that this prevented you from falling pregnant? not made you miscarry?

I have another appointment to see the specialist coming up where I am guessing all this will be explained. He mentioned though going on medication before I fell pregnant again and also during.

Any help would be appreciated xxx

Hiya hun sorry to hear about your miscarriages can't really offer any explanations but i know pcos can cause miscarriages aswell as difficulties in getting pregnant...i have it and i've got the latter. It's probably progesterone injections that they've mentioned but it should all be explained at your gynae appointment. Hope you get some helpful answers soon (hugs) xx

Ive read that PCOS can increase the risk of miscarriage, but I dont know why. It doesn't prevent you from falling pregnant, just makes it a tad more difficult because you (probably) wont ovulate as often as most women.

Im not sure about all of this myself tbh as Ive not long been diagnosed. I'm struggling to find information about m,y case as I have no symptoms other than polycystic ovaries and irregular periods. Hope you get the answers you're looking for.

Thats exactly what I have though, irregular periods and the PO.... hum.... Guess ill have to wait and see xxx

I have had pcos since I was 14 and was never aware that it can cause miscarriage. I know it can increase the risk but am not sure if it is the cause of a miscarriage.

I hope someone has the answer for you and lots of luck for future pregnancies. x

Im going to see someone at the hospital about it on oct 20th so if you want me to ask them anything for you let me know :) I have a million questions myself.

After 4 miscarriages have they not looked further into why it has happened so many times? Or are they saying it's because of PCOS? Ive never heard that its the cause just that it increases the risk.

I got tested for everything, and everything came back normal apart from the scan I had done.... So the Dr says its down to PCOS as to why its happened? But then, when I looked it up it says it can increase the risk by upto 45% but not necessarily cause it....

Confusing! x

maybe it's something to do with the irregular periods - if you're not ovulating until late in your cycle, it might be affecting the quality of the egg so it's not as viable for pregnancy?
*hugs*
sorry to hear this - i'm currently in the process of being "checked out" for pcos - i've had the scan which may be clear, but they had to find out the volume of each ovary. i've got a follow up appointment in a couple of weeks (as i've suddenly had huge difficulties in getting an appointment at my surgery, when usually they're fantastic!).
xx
