When I came off my bc, I stopped having my period, gained about 30lbs. I've always been bigger, played sports, been active, ect. So finally saw the doctor after 2 years of no period and wanting to conceive eventually. I carry most of the symptoms of pcos, and the doctor told me that I do have it.

The doctor put me on 750mg of metformin and 200mg of progesterone for the last 6 months...still nothing. I just had blood tests taken now I'm wondering what might be the next step, anyone experience something similar?

Feeling totally depressed, but I know a big part of it has been stress over a lot of things...but wishing fertility wasn't one of them.

My suggestion is to find out why your doctor is not being more proactive. Doctors provide a service and we are entitled to receive the kind of service we want. So if your Doctor doesn't have a good reason why then I think you should seek out a new doctor.

I went to my Doctor with PCOS symptoms, a new to me doctor, and she put me on Metformin, 1500 mg on March 10th. March 15th I had one round of blood tests. April 3rd I have a pelvic ultrasound. April 15th I have another round of blood tests so we have comparison levels. And then on June 7th I have a follow to start Clomid. My Doctor said if Clomid doesn't work in four cycles we will move forward to IUI. And we talked about and created this entire plan in a one hour consultation. I brought my husband and we talked about his sperm test results and she went over my history with me. She's just a normal OBGYN, not a specialist. And I'm only just 27. But she took me seriously.

As a result I actually feel hopeful.

And you can too!! Really, ask your doctor why they aren't being more proactive and if you don't like the answer find a new doctor. You know how I found my doctor? I asked the nurses and receptionists who was good and who the patients seemed to like and they recommended my doctor.

Thanks, I'm 27 also! It just seems super overwhelming. Especially with trying new meds...I'm super sensitive and get sick really easily off new vitamins and got super sick off the metformin for a few weeks. I'll be meeting with my doctor next week and will hope that I can get my questions answered.

Oh my goodness me too! I took 500mg met for a week and had no symptoms so my doctor bumped me to 1000mg and I woke up in the middle of night and threw up! Awful :(

Hello! So we are in similar places I also do not get periods but my Dr. took a slightly diff. approach. To induce a period I take Provera for five days twice a day then once I stop the pills I get my period in about 10 days. I just got prescribed Metformin and my Dr. has me doing 500mg once a day at night. Then after I have been doing that for two weeks I will take 500mg in the morning after a meal and 500mg at night.

Has provera given you a period?

Blessings & Babydust,

I've actually never taken proverb before...but I meet with my doctor this week in hopes to figure out what's next.

hello sorry Provera is the trade name for progesterone.

Met with the doctor to go over my bloodwork...and good news! Everything was low, including glucose, cholesterol, and ever my blood pressure, the only thing that was a bit too low I can fix by drinking red wine(doctor said!!lol) or excercising(red wine sounds better to me-lol).

He is prescribing me a new synthetic progesterone, and if I have my period, then I can start the Clomid. Hope this works!! We have been trying for 2 1/2 years...ready for something good to happen.

So this is sad, the obgyn put me on medroxyprogesterone(provera) and I had a sever allergic reaction to it...I broke out in hives and rashes. Now what?

Can they try a different brand of progesterone? Also some women swear by progesterone cream. You can get at health food stores.

Meeting with doctor Monday...he told me that progesterone cream doesn't have as much as the pills...but I tried it before he said it was no good.
