Hi Ladies!

I've recently been for blood tests and ultrasounds and was diagnosed with PCOS. The doctor said its mild as I don't have many of the symptoms such as weight gain, acne, facial hair. I do however, seem to have this problem of a neverending cycle which has started for the past 3.5 months.

I was on the pill until August last year, and then I had around 7-8 normal cycles which were 28-31 days. Then I had a 45 day cycle, and now I am on CD 51 and still no ovulation so this will likely be a 65-70+ day cycle

I am going to see a fertility specialist to see if we can regulate my cycles, just wanting some advice and support from others in a similar situation.

I'm fit & healthy, youngish (26 years old) and thought the pregnancy thing would happen quickly and it just isn't. I guess now I know why it isn't happening, but I just hope we can sort it out!

Thanks

Oh, I know FF has given me crosshairs, but I am fairly sure they are wrong as my temps have not reached their higher range that they go to after ovulation. I don't know how to get rid of the cross hairs, but I guess they will go soon when my temps show that theyre not high.

Hi everyone! well, no replies as yet.

Feeling pretty down at the moment. I've been researching PCOS and I don't even know where to start. Not sure if I should start cutting food out of my diet, ensure I get more exercise, or just see the doctor.

I'll try and make an appointment with the fertility specialists next week to see what they say.

I'm hoping if we test DH swimmers they come back perfect as otherwise that will just make it harder, and my body is doing a great job at making it hard already. Feeling really down about the whole process at the moment, like my hands are tied. It makes no sense and it just isn't fair.

We are now coming up to one year, and who knows how much longer it can take.  :nope:

I don't have PCOS, but I want to send you a hug :hugs: Keep your head up and hopefully you can get in with the doctor soon so you have a path forward.

Thanks!! I tried calling this morning but they weren't open yet, ill try again later. :)

I went to the gym this morning so hoping that helps start af again.

Hun I've recently been told I have PCOS too. Found during my MRI for fibroids/polyps. I just had my op yesterday to remove the polyps and that seemed successful so far, awaiting a call from the surgeon though to tell me more. I'm worried about PCOS too though my cycles, though odd lengths, haven't so far fingers crossed been too long. Apparently naturopath/diet can do a lot. My friend has PCOS and issues with weight and she got pregnant first pop, attending a naturopath so swears by it. I'm going to give TTC a go without it for now, and if nothing in a few months make some changes. My specialist didn't seem too concerned as it seems I ovulate and she said PCOS is far more common than people know and many women don't even know they have it. I'd rather not be one that does, but. Sending my thoughts. I know the difficulty of this journey to a baby. I always thought it'd be hard for me, but didn't expect all this xx

Lirpa11, I just came across your thread. I have PCOS too and have had it since about 10-11 years. I am just like you - 27, bloated but not overweight (I weight 115 lbs for a height of 5'4"), no other symptoms but my LH:FSH ratio in 2011 was 3:1 classifying me as PCOS.
When looking back, I have always had irregular periods with my max. cycle length being 45 days during that time. However, since that diagonsis in 2011, I have completely changed my lifestyle in that I eat low-carb diet, cut out all refined carbs which means white rice, white bread, pasta etc and have switched to eating brown rice. I have seen that this tremendously helped me in regulating my periods. I also regularly workout (about 4 days a week, though it has become 3 times a week now because of my work schedule).

After making all these changes, when I went back to my ob/gyn for a scan and bloodwork, she said she can no longer see cystic ovaries ("string of pearls) on my u/s and my LH:FSH ratio was 1.8. I felt very relieved! However, I still sometimes have occasional late/anovulatory cycles (1-2 times a year) and I take provera to induce a withdrawal bleed. But so far, everythings looking good. I personally feel that since PCOS is not necessarily a disease but just a syndrome, many of its symptoms and effects can be controlled by diet or exercise. This may not be true for everybody but has been for me.

TTC is going to be a whole new story and I have no idea about it since I just got started on it myself  But, wanted to let you know that PCOS is nothing to worry about and if you are planning on a lifestyle change, eating better and working out more often, then right now is a great time! Hang in there and good luck!

P.S: Sorry for keeping it so long!

Hello

Poly cyster (sister). I was diagnosed when I was 15 with PCOS I am now nearly 23 and ttc for 10 months!

when I found out I had pcos I wasn't too sure what it was, I was young but just couldn't figure out why my periods were so irregular. On the plus side, wince I have got older my periods have become more regular but my unwanted hair is getting worse :(

I am currently on 1500mg metformin for the condition, awaiting fertility specialist appointment, do not get dishearted, my friend found out when she was 18 that she had it, she is 23 now and has a 7 month old beautiful baby boy, it was a surprise baby, she never used contraception because she never thought it was going to happen!

it will happen, just stay positive, but I know how you feel, its heartbreaking. But remember women was made to reproduce and that's what we will do! x:winkwink:

I also have long irregular cycles but dr don't think I have pcos endo....I have appt next week at fertility since we have been trying for 12mos...all test seem to be fine...just struggling with long 40+cycle...

Hey all,
I'm a newbie, but I have a similar situation. I'm 26, married for 4 years, and just stopped OCPs two months ago to TTC. I've always had irregular periods since I started when I was 15. I was never diagnosed with PCOS, but I was on and off OCPs since I was 18, because my periods were so irregular. I've always been pretty thin, but I've picked up some weight in the last few years - although a lot is muscle mass (I work out/lift weights ~5 days a week).

I've always been nervous that I would have a difficult time TTC, but tried not to think of it and stress myself out prematurely. Now that I have been off of the pill two months and still have not had AF, I'm getting really frustrated and discouraged. I have a OB/GYN appt, but the soonest I could get in was Sept 30th  I have an appt with my family doc next month though, so if AF doesn't come before then, I will prob induce flow with progestin. It is unhealthy to go months without a period and it could lead to endometrial cancer in the future, so I definitely don't want to go longer than next month w/o either AF or BFP. I've taken three HPTs over the past two months - all BFNs. I did start vitex last month too, because I've done some reading on it, and it is supposed to help regulate cycles...we'll see...oh yeah I forgot to mention, I had some tests run in 2007 and my testosterone was just a bit above normal, but all my other levels were within normal range.

It's just so frustrating not knowing whats going on within my own body. I'm going to keep trying though and keep you ladies updated. Baby dust to all!
