Do any of you PCOS gals have an average of about how long it takes a woman with PCOS to conceive? I'm just curious as to how close I am to getting my baby lol.

Hi!

There is no average for any conception. Even though we PCOS ladies have one thing in common, we're all different. I know a woman who has 4 naturally conceived children with PCOS and haven't had a period in years and I know others who tried for years (and I mean years! One girl got pregnant 8 years later!) and haven't been successful yet!

There is no average, sorry ...

I agree with Valerie,

It varies from person to person. Some ppl get it the 1st month some can take a couple months, year or years.
:dust: Good Luck

What can be done to speed the process up? I'm taking metformin and that is it. I have done my temp. before and every month showed ovulation. Why am I ovulating, with pcos, and not getting pregnant? It's discouraging. I sure hope it doesn't take 8 years. I will be old by then! LOL.

Is your IUI because of the PCOS? If so, how did you know it was a good choice for you? Just curious because I'm really worried that I'm not going to get pregnant naturally.

you have done charting yourself to prove ovulation?, have they tested you though to make sure??? im not sure what else you could do if you are alread ovulating, you could try IUI if your doctor approves it, it might help, thats my next step

I have showed ovulation 3 months via charting, never had it confirmed medically through a blood test.

My RE decideed it will increase our chances of conceiving.
Here is a little Back Ground

I get postive opks all the time and I actually never ovulate ( confirmed by blood draws) which is typical for women with pcos. so now I am using meds for ovulation Induction as well. We do have PCOS threads that have alot more pcos women for more info. If you will like more back ground on me you can read my journal

I am not trying to burst your bubble but when TTC you have to be patient, Its extremely hard to do, but if not it will you run down very fast. Every person is different and it may take a couple cycle to find your right combo of meds, or it might be a miracle :bfp: You gotta stay positive. No one here can tell you what works for you, only how it worked for them and each story is different.

Give the Metformin a few months and see what happens. Or you can talk to your GYN or RE about meds to help you ovulate. Wishing you all the luck, and if u have any questions feel free to ask away.

I'm not really going to go to anymore drs. I figure what's the point if I already know I have PCOS and I ovulate on my own? I'm just gonna have to take the met., try to lose weight, and see what happens. Sigh.

How long have you been trying? After a year I would def see a gyn, or RE. There can also be other underlying issues. Just because you get a positive opk, does not mean you ovulate on your own, or you could be ovulating prematurely. I would give the MET 6 months and see if you notice any changes.

Also you should have blood tests done as well on cd 3, and 7 days after ovulation. Have you had that done?

If you have PCOS, you could be getting false positives on your OPK's. I would suggest seeing a FS or an RE asap. We're currently at 3+ years and getting nowhere fast, my OH's cousin is in the same position and just got her BPF after 6 years

Right now my anxiety is horrible. I'm moving to not trying not preventing. I hope it happens. I'm gonna keep taking the metformin and try to lose weight and just live life.
