Just posted this in TTC but thought some of you ladies might know too?

I was just wondering if anybody here has had the ultrasound to confirm/exclude PCOS?

I am being sent for one and would love to hear what exactly it all entails...?!

I had one about 10days ago.

They just stick some cold lube on a probe thing and insert it inside you to check your ovaries and lining. It doesn't hurt at all. Just a little uncomfortable. When I went for mine, she just marked measurements on the screen, took pictures and it was over within 5-6 minutes.

Hope everything goes ok for you! x

Thats great - thanks for replying. I have had that type of scan a couple of times before so at least I know what to expect! Thanks! :hugs:

I have internal scans on my ovaries every month and it is not big deal. They will just look for the "string of pearls" in your ovaries. It goes really fast. I hope they find nothing!!!

Good luck!

i had my first one yeterday...had the scan on my tummy first, but couldnt see very well, so did an internal one...didnt hurt at all!!

I did get diagnosed with PCOS , but im not sure where to go from here??? xxx

I had one a few years back, just a long probe, with lube on, I had to wear a hospital gown, just feels a bit unconfortable when they press in a little at the top other than that its fairly fast. I was told I couldn't have babies, my ovaries was that packed with cysts - shows you how wrong they can be lol!

I have got my ultrasound tomorrow morning. Im really not looking forward to it. I know PCOS doesnt mean no baby - as dollygirlie has proved! :happydance: but I am really apprehensive about it.

At least then though I think they might start me on clomid to get this moving. I will just be furious if I end up with PCOS after I mentioned this to my doc about a year ago and was sent away with a 'course not, dont be silly'. Hurumph. Could have saved a lot of heartache over the past 19 months if this had been found sooner. Bah.

Fingers crossed eh?

Hope everything goes OK tomorrow Marie :hugs:

Aww thanks for asking... yeh it went ok but then I called my doc to confirm blood results and she is pretty confident that I do have PCOS

It has affected me more than I thought it would.. felt really weepy all day and had to leave work early. I'm fuming that it has taken 19 months to detect this after I had suggested this to my doctor a year ago... I have been reading some stuff about it on the internet and now I am all confused and dont know where to go from here... I do realise its not the end of the world but I'm feeling really depressed about it all.

Its really kind of you to ask, thanks :hugs:

Aw chick :hugs:

I was where you are a month ago with my prognosis. Was feeling very teary and angry. It's a little overwhelming at first, but now there are going to be tools at your disposal to help your body get the best chance it can to conceive (at least starting my medication gave me a little more sense of control in a strange kind of way). It's disheartening, but it's by no means a closed book. You can get so much help and support here. People conceive with PCOS all the time, so why not it be you and I too!

We're all here if you need someone to talk to x:hugs:
