Looking to see any possible ways to regulate a period/ cycle.
This isnt a cycle that is one or 2 days off. But one that is near non existent.

With me, everything is hit or miss.

An example of my irregular cycles:
cycle March '08
cycle Sept '08
cycle in Feb '10
28 days later cycle in March '10
Expected something in April, nothing. Took some tests, just in case, negative.

Nada since. I've had years between cycles, i have experienced that from a super young age so im not unaware of them. I was actually surprised to see my 2 consecutive 'clockwork' cycles that didnt last too long (i tend to not have short periods, they can drag out to being 2 weeks long normally) These 2 cycles were much more what i would have considered normal. That also makes me confused as to when i should consider the 'last day of my last cycle' which is what most doctors have been saying when i go.
Should i just pick a day in that bracket, try to rememberer the last time i had spotting etc? or just say, i have no clue, say when it started and hope they can figure it out? I personally dread that question and nearly always say i have no idea.

Just looking to try anything to get a more regular reliable cycle.
Will be looking to lose a few lbs quickly (healthy way, of course) which im sure will jump start a period -- nearly always does-- but looking to try other ways to figure this all out.

Newly registered but lurking many moons before hand. Ill continue to search the forums for some assistance.

Thanks for any help! Hoping i can be of some help in the future to others, like me right now. Right now it is just so much information hitting a frustrated mind.

Hello and Welcome!

Sorry to hear of your problems, you sound just like me... only have cycles maybe twice a year :-(
I tried 2000mg of vitamin C a while back which induced af the next day! Couldnt believe it worked and I hoped it would kick start my body but no avail.
I would imagine the reason your not having cycles is because you're not ovulating - v common with pcos. The FS ended up giving me meds to induce af and then I also have meds to help me make some eggs - since ive been ovulating I have af on my own :-) but just havent caught that eggy yet :-(

Have you had any bloods done to check your progesterone etc?

xx

i haven't had my bloods done in a few years, which ill be doing on my next physical in a month or so, that was my first step then id go on from there.

Thanks for the input and experience, i figured it was the case. Now to change it ! :)

I agree with Sazaroo, you need to go to the doctor and get some testing done. Preferably an OB/GYN or a fertility specialist. There is a list of tests to do to rule out a number of things and to help diagnose the problem.

They'll do blood tests for thyroid and hormones to see if there is something off balance, and probably an ultrasound to see if there are cysts on your ovaries and to make sure your uterus is healthy.

After that they'll probably give you a prescription for progesterone to jump start AF. If you have having a problem with ovulation (which it sounds like you are), they may start you on an ovulation induction medication.

Good luck!
