I was at the doctors yesterday and i mentioned some pains i had been having lately we know i have one cyst she had a feel round and suggested since i havent been scanned since 2011 i should have one then she started talking about pcos. I should get a appointment on monday and be scanned within the next few weeks she said to ring up a week after for a telephone consultation. So supposing i have pcos what will happen after that? I'm scared i told her i was planning on trying this year and now i'm trying to convince myself it will be ok, i might not have it and i will be able to have children then on the otherhand theres something telling me it wont be ok and i cant.

Pcos rarely means that you cant have children. I have it myself and have been pregnant a fair few times. My losses were due to my APS, completely unrelated to pcos. Dr's like to prepare for the worst and a previous cyst doesn't mean you'll be diagnosed with pcos. I wish you all the best either way but speaking as someone with pcos, it doesn't always affect your chances x

Hey. I also have PCOS, was just DX two weeks ago :nope:, though I have known all along, my family doctor just wouldn't listen...it was my fertility specialist who figured it out. PCOS has a wide range, could be severe to mild...you may have one problem ; cysts...or you could have all the problems, or just some...it just depends what they find once they do testing. If you ovulate on your own then you should have no trouble getting pregnant, but again, they will test for your issues and help you with them once you start TTC.
For me I am on metformin, im not insulin resistance. This should help me regulate my cycles. Once my cycle comes back they are going to check my tubes, if they are all clear then my next step is Clomid. Im not sure if I ovulate and if I do its very irregular, my cycle range from 75 to 170+ days...clomid should help me ovulate.
I know its scary when doctors mention PCOS and the possibility of having it, and im sorry your going through it. You may not have PCOS...if your anything like me then your probably going to research the crap out of it, and I suggest you do, that way when your doctor explains things to you about it (if you have it) then you will know what he is talking about and will be able to ask more detailed questions about it. I wish you lots of luck :hugs:

I was only diagnosed after trying for a baby and not conceiving, within the month I got seen, scanned and diagnosed and given Clomid, that same month I got pregnant.

Don't be scared, if there is something up your better off knowing about it xx

I also don't know if i ovulate i have never had regular cycles always long ones, i never kept track it just came when it came of course i have been on and off birth control since being 14 so that hasn't help me be able to keep track, i will be researching it i haven't been home all weekend so i haven't had the chance, i'm hoping to get a scan date pretty quickly i should get a date tomorrow with a bit of luck, i know it is scary it makes you think of all sorts of bad things well it has with me but i am trying to keep myself sane until the date because stress isn't going to help matters, i wish you luck in your ttc journey also :hugs:

I was, couldn't believe the Clomid worked so quick, and now my beaut is almost 9 months old!!

Pcos can cause difficulties for some women, but more often than not we can have children without too much trouble, I conceived my son without even trying, and before that had an mc so that's 2 pregnancies without trying. Now I'm ttc another baby and hoping it won't take too long, this is my first month trying. If there are problems then there is help out there so if you are diagnosed with pcos then honestly it doesn't necessarily mean you will have problems.
