hi mamas,
anyone have a successful icsi/ivf story? our doctor said that if we go the ivf route, we'd need to do icsi.

i'd so appreciate to hear your story, as we/i am a little nervous about the medical (and financial) aspects.

thank you in advance and congratulations on your :bfp:

Sorry you haven't had any responses, bumping this up for you.

vic31, you're awesome. thank you:hugs:

Hi vkj...
I remember you from my time in the AC section.

This is my first post in 2nd tri...ive been lurking as I'm just 13 wks but when I saw your post I had to reply.

We did ivf and froze all our embies after the retrieval. We then did the transfer the following month after I got AF.

We were very fortunate to be successful the first time. I think it had to do with doing a FET and not fresh cycle. My estrogen was very high...had I done a fresh I would have been put on meds to balance it....i think waiting a cycle let my body reset and ready for the embryo.

Yes it is expensive....we paid entirely out of pocket. And yes it's a lot of meds / procedures. But once I was done the stims and retrieval....i knew if I had to do it again I would in second.

And then after my bfp and now looking back. I'd do it in a heartbeat. It's a tiny point in my journey and where I am now...it doesn't matter.

Goodluck..i hope you are one step closer to your bfp.

I wish I could help, but just wanted to stop by and wish you the best of luck!

Hi,

Some of the successful IVF ladies post on a thread in the pregnancy discussion section of the boards :)

IVF BFP 'S .. The journey, the hope, the success.

There are a wide range of ladies posting from around 12 weeks pregnant to almost 39 weeks pregnant, all having gone through various IVF protocols to get where they are today :)

I had IVF and although I had to freeze all my first cycle due to OHSS my fet was successful and I am currently almost 30 weeks pregnant :)

Hello, yes me! It took us three attempts but we got there in the end. There are a few threads on here with IVF success stories which are worth a read. Most important lessons I learnt are:
- not to get hung up on numbers and statistics
- support each other through the process
- don't ever beat yourself up at any failures as none of it is your/partners fault
- and if at first you don't succeed, try again (if finances allow).

Wishing you every success. Feel free to ask any questions/pm.

:hugs:

Yes! We had success with ICSI! After being surprised that I never fell pregnant for two years even when we were never using BC, my partner and I decided to get tested. On our initial tests, they told us that I was fine but he had very low sperm count and that he what little sperm he did have, was lazy. So we tried ICSI this time last year. It didn't work. Throughout all of my appointments, I could see something big showing up on my scan and it looked like a hydrosalpinx to me. Docs said it was fine because my tests were fine. During my first ICSI transfer, they saw that it really was a hydrosalpinx. Shortly after that transfer and resulting fail, I had to have BOTH of my tubes removed. HEARTBREAKING when we found out it would be IMPOSSIBLE to get pregnant naturally without ICSI.

We tried again this past January. I really, really, REALLY felt like it wasn't going to work. We were looking into adoption and surrogacy (docs had given me less than 10% chance of ICSI working for me). But lo and behold, we were all proven wrong! I was pregnant with twins! I lost one twin but the other is perfectly healthy so far! It is amazing to go from thinking it is impossible, to now just being a regular pregnant lady :)

Best of luck! It really is magical science that does work!

I am currently pregnant with our icsi baby. Both hubby and I had issues and it took us 3 attempts. One bfn, one early miscarriage and now finally 28 weeks with our little miracle. Financially it is harder, but we had savings we used and just sacrificed a lot to save where we could. I found the emotional side of it the worst, but so worth it. There was no way I was not going to keep trying the one way that would fulfil our dreams of having a baby. What didn't kill us definitely made us stronger. All my best wishes on your journey!

Thanks hun!

It's a big decision but once you start it's over so quick...stims.. retrieval...transfer. before you know it you'll be testing.

Hello,

I'm an ICSI survivor

We have numerous issues between us, and were told we would never get pregnant naturally. My DH has very low swimmers that also prefer backstroke :haha: so it definitely had to be ICSI.

I had two attempts. The first I retrieved five eggs but sadly suffered a miscarriage. The second attempt was four eggs, and on day of tranfer only two of those eggs had survived. Those two eggs turned into my now very lively two year old twins! I would definitely say, keep talking and supporting each other no matter what.

Life has also surpised me, as i am now 23 weeks pregnant with our natural suprise. This has shocked both me and my doctors, as with my problems alone, its just not something we ever thought possible and is a bit of a medical miracle.

Big hugs for the journey ahead xx

You all are so thoughtful for replying. Thank you.
I emailed the nurse today to tell her that we will move forward with our mini-ivf mid-July.

Scary and exciting:hugs:

My daughter is an icsci baby that resulted from a FET and so are the twins I am carrying. It does work and although expensive totally worth it. These days they have gotten so much better and precise that success rates are really rising. Best of luck to you :)
