People selling their WIC formula

Ah, well I'm going to go steal some groceries because I know my former premier misappropriated more than that on a recent business trip.... 'tis all good :)

I am so thankful for wic they give me 10 cans of formula a month now - in my store a can of milk costs 15 dollars - that is 150 dollars a month that I am able to spend on other needs. Although my baby is very high needs and some days I only get to eat once or twice :(

What the actual fuck. A person is committing fraud and trying to purposefully scam the system depriving others of much needed assistance and people are rushing to say not to judge?! Sorry, but I don't see how this is in any way shape or form acceptable.

I will judge you. I will turn you in. It's WRONG and FRAUD. Let those who truly need to feed themselves and their babies have the assistance. It's not there to make a buck. People like that piss me off.

I called WIC, btw. They thanked me for reporting it and they're looking into the case ;)

I think I read somewhere online about some mums doing it when their baby needed a certain type of medicated formula but their insurance didn't cover it, so they sold this formula to fund buying it as they couldn't afford to increase their insurance cover.

But to sell it for profit isn't right.

Here if your baby needs a special formula WIC will provide it with a doctors note saying that it nessecary.
My SILs baby was lactose intolerant and she had to be on a soy formula. And WIC told her to get her doctor to write a note proving it
and they wrote her vouchers out for it

jaylynne i feel the same as you. not sure if its because i live in an area where fraud is common when it comes to wic, food stamps...alot of people here EXPECT assistance and it is pretty easy to get. some dont even need it and just see the opportunity with a why not attitude. its annoying seeing people sale formula they obtained through wic.

to the OP, im very surprised she would post it on facebook! considering the trouble she will get into if she is caught.

I have a HUGE issue with those who feel "entitled" to handouts. I get the economy is hard. I've been laid off myself. But I don't expect anything and I do what I need to do to provide for the family I chose to have. People need help from time to time. But they shouldn't demand it and definitely shouldnt scam it.

Agreed. I watched a documentary about poverty in Eastern Kentucky/Appalachia. When they asked kids what they wanted to do when they grew up, nearly all of them said "to draw": meaning draw a welfare check. Cuz that's all their parents do. ANGERED :gun:

Wow that is beyond rediculous! Those are the type that ruin it and make it hard for those who need it to get assistance. I def have no problem with assisting those in need, but those who scam the system and are completely lazy living off the government make me so mad!

To OP, I'm so glad you turned her in! People need to know that's not ok to take advantage of the help they are being given.

Glad you turned her in! Before I started working in the ER (small urban area lower income) that I work in, I would have been one of the "don't judge" type of people. Now after seeing case after case of people selling the EBT money (food stamps) for cash, talking about how they work the system for more and more money, talk about their kids as their 'paycheck' (one woman with 12 kids once told me that she couldn't lose her kids to cps because she was the breadwinner in the family by having them for benefits), selling their gov. paid cellphones/plans, my mind was opened to how easily the benefit programs are ripped off.

Not everyone on benefits is like this, but there is a higher and higher rate of people being 'generation benefiters' meaning that grandparents, parents, and then kids all living off the system expecting the government to take care of all their needs!

Judge away everyone does it to everyone , I am not telling you not to. Never said it was right for her to do just throwing in some points for discussion.

Just curious, but why do you tend to assume people are singling you out?? You're not the only one saying it  I'll have to go back and find your post because I honestly don't remember what you wrote. I think I was too stunned by the apathy of some.

Besides, there's nothing really needed to judge. They breached the wic agreement. It's black and white.

I gt so mad when they do this crap about Kentucky. Makes us all look stupid and lazy and like we have no teeth.

I wish we could dob the government in, in my country they use thousands and thousands of tax payers money each week to have fresh flowers put around their main office. What a waste!

We don't have a WIC program. However, if I was given free formula you bet your bottom dollar I would sell it on. It will only get thrown away like perfectly good food is at the supermarket when it's a day past best before. I'd rather make sure I knew definitely that the formula was going somewhere it was needed.

The point of the WIC program is to make sure formula goes where it is needed. This lady is taking formula away from needy babies and making a profit off of it. Her leftover formula wouldn't be sold. It's given for free to women who can't afford it. The WIC program only has a certain amount of money it can use to buy things like formula. She's stealing from babies. That's why people are so upset about it.
