People selling their WIC formula

im from WESTERN Kentucky (thank the lord) but yeah I've heard of it. bless their heart they aint got no teeth and the interbreeding is awful O:

and that documentary is right, I personally know some people who made their kids drop out of school and made them fake illnesses just so they could be on welfare all their lives. it is sickening I blocked all of them out of my life because all they do is try to sell me their baby things and ask me for money. I have never given them any because I have known people who do and they never pay them back not only that but I dont appreciate when I say no and they get mad and try to guilt trip me by saying they aint gonna get to eat blah blah blah thats a lie you have food stamps you aint gonna get your weed pills drugs and cigarettes.

^2 and a half days? The tins here cost about £10 and used to last me a week.

Prescription painkillers was a huge issue in the documentary, too. Some ridiculous number like 75% (possibly more) of all the people in that area abused them. There was a big thing with people selling their pills for astronomical amounts of money, and that's where a lot of the welfare money was being spent.

WIC is a program specifically for low incomes (Women, infants, and children) who are at nutritional risk (and the application requires a health evaluation by a physician to say yes, they are at risk of nutritional deficiencies if they don't get this extra food).

It's not like a broadly-applied benefit for all women.

Signed up for WIC last week, as I've been told to wean my daughter for health reasons. (I was content to buy my own milk and tuna.) I promise, did not have to see a physician.

We don't have a WIC program. However, if I was given free formula you bet your bottom dollar I would sell it on. It will only get thrown away like perfectly good food is at the supermarket when it's a day past best before. I'd rather make sure I knew definitely that the formula was going somewhere it was needed.

If you're breastfeeding and qualify for WIC, you get eggs, cheese, milk, juice, peanut butter, beans, cereal, tuna, bread, and $10 of fruits and veggies.

They don't force formula on you, if you're not going to use it, take the food you would use.

But fresh veggies and eggs don't sell on for nearly as much. :/

I gt so mad when they do this crap about Kentucky. Makes us all look stupid and lazy and like we have no teeth.

Off topic a bit, but what bugs me more is people buying garbage items with their food stamps. I use EBT/food stamps also, and I use them to go grocery shopping. My shopping list will include a few snacks, but its not total junk. I used to work in a convenience store and it just irked me when people came in and loaded up on $40 worth of chips, pop, ice cream bars, and candy then pulled out the EBT card. Then at the end of the month they'd be counting pennies and bumming money.

Back to the documentary.....your no teeth comment reminded me of another part of it....

The did a section on a traveling dentist who donates his time and skill to kids in the region. Nearly all the parents put Mountain Dew in their kids bottles, and by the time they are two years old, many kids teeth have rotted to the point they all have to be extracted. This dentist would do the extraction and implants free of charge.

It was horrible to see all these babies drinking soda, and the parents did it because they were raised on it, too and because it's cheap, like insectile was talking about.

It is such an epidemic that Pepsi released a statement that "Mountain Dew Mouth", as dentists refer to it as, is not a result of their marketing to lower income people.
Know what's cheaper? Water. :/

Why put Mt. Dew in a bottle when you can put water in it for free. (And your kid might sleep this month.)

I'm not saying its okay and I don't know if I would turn her in. It depends on the circumstances and whether or not the child would suffer.

However, if we are so angry about tax payers money, (don't get me wrong, I take home only a little more tha half of what I make) I think there are some seriously bigger fish to fry than what someone does with there wic formula. I take advantage of the program and my son eats all of his formula and then some. I would never sell it, but if anything makes me mad, it's people who ignore real issues and focus on the horrible, unsightly things poor people do; for example, be poor.

The real truth is that we don't want to see that shit, not that we are so angry that the government gives them food or formula. Poverty is OUR problem and if someone I knew was selling their wic, I would offer to give them whatever it is that they need.

I also understand that there are drug addicts and extreme cases, etc and that's not what I'm talking about.

If someone truly worries about where there taxes go, I expect to see them with picket signs in Washington dc. It's not the wic program or food stamps or even cash benefits that are causing health care cuts and a failing economy.

End rant. I hope some of you don't hate me for what I've written as I respect all of you.

God id be fumin if id seen it. makes me soooo angry. id take a picci of the page and shop her. im angry now xxx

I can't stand it, here's me paying all this money for formula and IF she's just collecting WIC to make a profit then I'd be turning her in. But even if she just had left over formula, she should still return it to the office. It's a shame.

i agree with you.

who knows that she isnt selling them because she is desperate to find money for medication or to pay her rent so keep her children with a roof over their head?

instead of being mad that people have to sell stuff in order to make a little money, be thankful that you dont have to
