Has anyone experienced this? My OH had/has this and my almost 4 year old often complains of his knee hurting. OH said that's how his started off even though it's a problem with the hip not the knee.

My son didn't walk until he was 23 months and is quite clumsy on his feet still. He's not very good at anything physical and hates walking, always saying his legs hurt or he's tired. I had been putting it down to laziness and the fact that he is quite short so maybe his legs tire quicker?!

I'm going to make a doctors appointment for him but was interetsed to see if anyone has any experience of it? He certainly can run around but he doesn't have much interest in doing so unless we are at soft play.

My son had Perthes disease or so they thought. I went to A&E twice ad he kept limping at 18 months and they told me he had a toddlers fracture. He continued limping so i went to the doctor and he was referred to an orthopaedic doctor who confirmed he had it. We seen him every 3 months for almost 2 years then randomly one appointment he just said oh i dont think he has it anymore we dont need to meet again. Left me a bit confused but also happy as either way whether it somehow repaired itself or he was misdiagnosed it wouldnt be getting any worse.

Anyway i would go to your GP and get a referral, with it being in the family you should be able to get one easily id imagine.
They told me the younger they are at diagnosis the better the outcome. We did a 'wait and see' approach which was just xrays every 3 months and no bouncy/castles or trampolines (the hardest part) for pain i put epsom salts in his bath and regular pain relief on the bad days x

Thanks for this. I will get him in at the doctors although he is saying it's ok at the moment but OH said his own hip, pain is sometimes ok?! Doctors it is then. Xx

I'm sorry, I don't know too much about it but my cousin has it and she was in an A frame for a while. She's 27 now and still suffers with her hip every now and again but she can walk and do everything. :flower:
