Ladies,

Our Lo is going to be 18 months when our new baby comes along so am going to be needing a double buggy!

I want something light but can get in and out and round the shops no problem as well as being good out on a walk round the village to the park etc.

At the moment we have a jane slalom for LO which is really quite heavy so we really don't want anything any heavier than that.

So the question is do we go for the babyjogger which is light and both LOs will have a perfect view or go for the phil and teds whihc is heavier but probably easier with regards to getting round the shops!?!

What do you think? all opinions welcome

These two prams are completely different really with regards to what they are designed for.

The Phil & Teds pram is designed for most terrains inc off road, however the city mini isn't due to the small wheels.

So for practicality and being more universal I would probably go for the Phil & Teds. But if you like the idea of them both facing out have you had a look at the Out n About nipper double? It is the lightest all terrain twin on the market!.... We have the single verision and love it!

I also had the single version on the Baby Jogger City Elite, which is also an all terrain pram, not sure if it comes as a double though!

I don't think we'd really use it much for proper offroading. I like the idea of them both being able to see but then think that my eldest probably wont be in it for too much longer anyways! The baby being tucked away doesn't appeal too much with the phil and teds but i prefer the look of the phil and teds and feel it would be much more practical going round town.

Decisions decisions.. i suppose another factor is that we could probably sell the phil and teds on after we are finished with it and get quite a few pounds back compared to what we would for the baby jogger!!

I'll take another look at the out and about nipper but reckon it's even wider than the babyjogger.

Yeah I think the Out n About will be wider than the baby jogger as it is an all terrain one.

Personally I would go for the Phil and Teds, it looks sturdier than the baby jogger and I like that you can buy a cocoon for newborn so they are nice and cosy and snug in the back for winter!

And also, it turns in to a single for those days when your toddler wants to walk!

i think there is another thread about this exactly,
i have the double city mini, i like it cos, each kid has their own space, and its light and easy to steer and fold, it has great shade, and has held up well
it is a nightmare in tight spaces and some sidewalks, if i know i am going somewhere like that i wont take it with me, ill use the single peg i have and let the bigger one stand on the back ( he is already 3 so its not a big deal)
i dont like the idea of the other kid underneath in the phil and teds

both of the options have their pros and many cons but trying to decide whats most important is really hard! It's not until you start using them that it becomes obvious as to whether it was the right or wrong decisiont! Its a pity i couldn't try them out first !!

Have you considered something completely different like the Icandy Pear? They're expensive new but you can pick up a good deal on ebay!

Then you can have a carseat/seat, or a carrycot/seat or 2 seats then you can turn it in to a single which can be parent or forward facing?!

I did think about the icandy but thought they were really expensive and also really heavy!?

Baby jogger also have the city select but again i reckon it would be way too heavy... this city selctr has loads and loads of seating options is a tandem can have car seat carry cot options looks brilliant but the weight is putting me off.

I'm a bit put of the baby joggers in general, esp the new select after having a problem with the baby jogger city elite.

It was a fantastic pushchair but when LO was born I had the carrycot for it but found that the attachments to the fram were a bit too high, and because it's a three wheeler I had a few instances where it was a bit top heavy and tried to fall over when I was bumping down pavements, and on wonky footpaths.

We had one instance when I wasn't holding it and the wind blew it over with my 5 week old Tom inside!!!.... Luckily he was ok but I never used the carrycot again after that!!!

The carrycot attachments were the same ones for the carseat and as it was not as big I found this was more stable but in the end I got rid of it and bought the nipper instead (although I sometimes regret as the seat bit was great!)

I have city select and i tried that and phil and teds in shop and the weight isnt much different i didnt think anyway

I love my city select but I have said when my eldest is bit bigger and they both want to face outwards im going to get either sideby side double or phil and teds as the one at back can kick or pull at the front seat and it will get ruined and look scruffy

i did also use it once for my 11month old and my friends 2 year old and it was very hard to move

so for now while both mine are still small and for anyone with small children its city select all the way :)
