Just wondering, is anyone aware of inductions with pitocin making it more likely to tear an abdominal muscle in labour???

i do know that it makes the contractions stronger...(I was induced with my DD). BUT I have not heard of tearing abd. muscles. When my contractions got really bad, they backed down on the pitocin. Sorry I'm not much of a help!

Thanks! I wonder if it was just a coincidence then

Never heard of oxytocin/pitocin tearing abdominal muscles. But then pitocin doesn't act on/contract your abdo muscles, just your uterine muscle itself (womb). Pitocin increases the risk of a ruptured uterus which of course happens.

:)

not sure if your confusing uterine rupture with tearing abs? but there is a risk of uterine rupture with induction because the contractions are stronger, longer, and closer together...there is also a risk of hyperstimulation, which basically means contractions are bonkers (moreso than usual with an induction). These things dont happen often, but def. could.
