Last night i went to pizza hut and i had the warm cookie dough dessert (so yummy) hehe! but then after i came home i came on here and read someone was worried about eating the Ben and Jerry's cookie dough icecream, now i'm worried cause i ate cookie dough and all about the raw egg thing, should i be worried? it was hot.

I'm normally pretty good when going to a restaurant now asking if any of the food has mayonnaise on (raw egg thing) but last night i just forgot and enjoyed indulging LOL :S. Such a bad mom.:growlmad:

i believe in guidelines but as for hot deserts... its cooked so id assumed the egg would have to be cooked as well?? Lol sorry no idea but i wouldnt stress i ate LOTS of goats cheese and mayo before i found out i was pregnant and my midwife said if you dont have large quanities often then you can still have your favourite foods...

Any commerical mayo or 'cookie dough' you'd get in mass-produced desserts like that would be safe to eat. They have to be made with pasteurized eggs or sometimes an emulsifier that isn't even made from eggs, but gives the same taste as raw cookie dough would. Like that cookie dough isn't the kind you'd use for baking, it's made for eating raw, which means they make it safe to eat. The recommendation is just not to eat raw dough or mayo you make at home yourself, because that will have real unpasteurized eggs in it.

Whatever you had sounds really tasty though! I could go for that right now!

Also, if it's at all reassuring, I'm not exactly a follow all the guidelines to the letter kind of person, and I've eaten quite a bit of cake batter and cookie dough since I've been pregnant (the real kind with real raw eggs).

its fine i ate it with ma son and hes a happy healthy lil boy:) dw x
